  • i remember playing this waaay back when on the pc, it was HARD i personally never got past the aircraft carrier lol, but then i was like 6 and i didnt know there was a bomb weapon (or i never knew how to use it if there was). Would have gotten me past the bit i was stuck on (that carrier lol) had i have known!

  • looks like a cheap copy of Fire shark for sega genesis game

  • @mohabiraq1 It's an nes game! How could it rip off a game that came after it?!!

  • I just bought this game the other day from The Exchange. *Sigh* I love NES Games.

  • about to download a emulator and rom file for this game/game system! remembering back think i only made it to the desert level, i think that was level 3.

  • Best game ever

  • Game is one of the best shooters in existence. Awesome game-play, bad ass music and crazy enemy patterns. This game will give you a stroke because it'll do nothing more then PISS YOU OFF!!!!

  • this game was great and very hard

  • Funny how the music starts out the same as the killer arcade version, but then turns into weird techno crap.

  • Damn i played this game for a long ass time when i was younger and never made it past the boats lol

  • omg this game was too hard fer me back den like hell im goning tp play it agian on my modded xbox

  • The musc in this game shoots me back into the early early early 90s.

  • i owe every thing to this game!

  • great game i also still play it after all these years

  • yahp it does not have finish -_- waht a pile of crap all my childhood grow up thinking there im a loser but it does not have end after i past like 30 levels -_- realice that the game does not change anyway another game beat up by me yeiii :D

  • how many levels have this game??? -_- when i was a child played this but never ends because i remember that i never past a big black plane but now i play and i get many levels but no get to there O_O

  • @xhirtam If it's true to the arcade version, there should be about 5 levels. It should also loop infinitely from the first stage when you beat it, ramping up in difficulty each time.

  • Random thought, think itd be freakin awesome if a live group recreated this music, lol, epic, Bass, Guitar, Keyboards, guitar, drums with doublekick OF COURSE, maybe some 80's rockin inspirational vocals on top, WHO WANTS TO DO IT WITH ME!?

  • Wow, i just got chills!, fuckin sahweet, *smile, i used to play the shit out of this, used to get so jazzed about this, made you feel bad ass playin it, lol, flyin around blowin the shit outta things, the firing sounds oh an WITH THE MUSIC, I think the soundtrack is the best part, love it, I think unconsciously this is what got me into techno music, haha, fit perfectly, hah same here could never get too far into it,

  • Ugh this game was epic. One of my favorites, even though I could rarely get past the third area =/

  • This game is legendary for being impossible. I never got too far past the second boss (Big Plane). One of my brother's friends back in the day had a Game Genie and still couldn't beat it! (unlimited bombs!)

  • I reserve a half hour a day to play this game, my best score on this game without dying was a 390,120.

  • By far the hardest game I've ever played.

Makes newer games seem like daisy-lined cakewalks.

  • one of the hardest games ever

  • Your username is full of win :)

Does the title screen run for a bit? Was curious about the music for it.

  • Yeah, the titlescreen just loops infinitely. You can also grab the NSF rip of the soundtrack from Zophar's Domain or somewhere and play it with the NotSo Fatso winamp plugin.

  • Wow, good information. Thanks!

  • good music

  • took me roughly 4 years to get good and beat this game atleast twice in a row and even longer to remember the spawning of AI

  • I remember there being no end to the game, it just kept going after you beat the flying fortress at the end.

  • you make this game look easy, i played it when i was 7 but it got replaced by my xbox, i wish i could play this game again but i think the only reason the nintendo doesnt work is because its outdated or somn. it just shows a green, then yellow screen when ever i try to play a game on it. :(

  • try cleaning the games with windex and i q tip i had the same problem or replace the connector theres videos how to on youtube

  • I just got the game at the flea market for 80 bucks.

  • dude, please tell me you spent 8 bucks, nes games arent worth that much (unless its some limited edition never been opened stuff)

  • What! That's not a collectors? I got that with no box and no instructions. Shoot with the additional stuff there, they're asking for 120 bucks. Just kidding! I got the cool game and another called Millipede, all for total 8 bucks.

  • This song is awesome im gonna see if I can get my friend to record it on guitar

  • i remember playing a friend at this and scored a million points without dying he was not thrilled kinda like playing super mario and beating the game before the second player has a chance to play lol

  • How come the Japanese division of Taito didn't do the NES port of Sky Shark rather than Software Creations? It would have done much better if it were done by Taito themselves using the same code as Bubble Bobble and Operation Wolf.

  • This is actually a really good question. I might look into it, but if i had to GUESS, i'd assume it had something to do with the limits Nintendo placed on how many titles a company could put on the system within a year. An example of this is that Metal Gear was released under the Ultra Games brand, which was actually a company created by Konami specifically to get around this limitation.

  • @Jac2Mac I agree! They should've done that game. I swear, the NON-JAPANESE always want to make games for the Japanese systems. They don't deserve to make any.

  • fuck i remember this game yea best music for the nes

  • Dude. best fucking soundtrack EVER

  • does anyone know was there an ending to this.

  • not really, it loops over and over again. Eventually the game glitches to where once ya die the game goes in a constant scroll through all the lvls and gets stuck at the last boss again... I think it was around 3 times through the game that it glitched.

  • Fail. It took 10 years of on and off playing (really maybe a year of active playing) and I can get to level 4 without dying. Also, why in the hell did you use your bombs on level 1? Not needed. Certain parts of level three are extremely hard to get through without dying. Those boats can be a bitch.

  • I used bombs because i could. You end up with 5 on level 1, and it was useful to show that unlike the arcade version, bombs in the NES port wipe all on-screen bullets instead of just those caught in the blast.

  • I still have Sky Shark in my collection, never gave up on the classic NES unlike so many others.

  • wow this brings back memories.. i remember playing this game with my grandfather when i was a kid... i wish i can go back in time

  • This game was amazing, and the soundtrack was really good. An orchestral rescore would be awesome...

  • This game was amazing, and the soundtrack was really good. An orchestral rescore would be awesome...

  • I grew with this game. I love it so much.

  • he gets the powerups, but notice they don't power up the waepons. there should b more than 2 bullets.

  • "YEA" THIS GAME WAS THE SHIT!!!!Also the 1941,42, and 43 games were just as good.Even Chopper Fighter had similiarity to this.

  • yeah you know this music is bad ass

  • way to stop just as the music starts kicking ass

  • The arcade version's music is so much better. I don't know why they changed it completely.

  • The music is different because great composer Tim Follin always preferred to do his own thing, rarely sticking to any past track or the like.

The same thing applied with his Ghouls 'N Ghosts and Bionic Commando takes.

  • Dude, he did those too? I had no idea.

  • Sure did. When he worked for the late and great Software Creations.

While there he also did Solstice, Target Renegade and Silver Surfer for the NES.

Equinox - Solstice II, Plok and Super Off Road for the SNES etc. etc. etc.

His Brother Geoff Follin also contributed a lot in some of those, and proved he was equally as talented as Tim.

  • Awesome video. I get some great memories from this game. Believe it of not, this game helped teach me my right and left, when those yellow planes attack from the sides!

  • This game is MUCH better when played with a joystick/ on an arcade game. I almost broke my nes controller in half becuase it frustrated me when playing this. Its too hard playing with the little arrows.

Also, my uncle used to have this in arcade version (the big machine) before its was fried in an electrical storm. Cryied that day. This game also gave me a giant blister on my hand when I had 83 credits in the game, and played everyone! I love sky shark.

  • This game was so awesome... i still have it...

  • Oh, so that's how to play Sky Shark!

  • Largely by knowing what's coming beforehand. You play Sky Shark about as much as you play tax returns.

  • well done player 1

  • Sounds like Skate or Die, or something ported from the C64.
