the lo-down is this: "emo" is bands such as Mineral, Elliott, American Football, Chambelain, etc. Alot of the "old-era" Revelation Records bands. Not "bless the fall" or "avenged sevenfold". Sinking Ships is a melodic hardcore band. Nothing more, nothing less. That's all they were from Meridian, all the way upto their self titled 7", and everything, every ep, album and split in between.

From my own experience, most emo childs have a very narrow view of life, focusing on the little shitty things. There's nothing wrong with being emotional or putting it in music. I like Callahan, they're sort of emo. I just hate the whole scene thing too. But I don't want to start an argument on a Sinking Ships video, I'm just saying.
