"The more things change, the more they stay the same" Women's Lib was great in certain areas, but basically it made things easier for men. Now women HAVE to work, it' not a choice-- and they still steer clear of the homely chores and taking care of the kids. To me it's more of a Men's Lib. Now they don't have to carry the responsibility -fully that is- of the woman and the family. Lucky bastards!!

I'm a chemist for the local plant in SC. I work with some of the most prestigious men in the nation. Instead of following their footsteps, I've created my own. My car was keyed and other attempts have been made to scare me off. I started singing this song in the lab and many men were swearing as they heard when they passed by my lab. :-)

For all the women who weren't around at the time this song came out, this song was a rallying cry for all women oppressed by men. At work, at home, wherever. I was entering into a man's profession, and being attractive, these men would say things like "who did you sleep with to get in?", amongst other more insulting statements. Nevermind that I earned all my A's and was on Dean's list for all 4 years of college, in addition to earning all sorts of awards. Things are somewhat better.

In fact, if anything, susan b anthony probably held back women's rights. some Strippers in the old west gradually gained dominant status (ex: giving free healthcare to male and female employees), and flappers making female physical strength "womanly".
