Here's how Santorum did well- at first he didn't spend a lot of money and stayed real low in the polls, so he wasn't attacked by the other candidates and people didn't find out how corrupt he really is. At the last minute, he gets endorsements from evangelical leaders, giving him his last minute surge

@Illyria23alyssa Lets be fair though, Ron got 21% of the vote, so he was only 3% behind Santorum and Romney. And if you look at most of the Iowa polling, he had anywhere from 18-23% support anyway, so it was expected that he'd get as many votes as he did. That being said, winning Iowa is rarely a sign you'll win. No one seems to remember who one the Iowa Caucus last time... Ill give you a hint, it wasn't McCain. There's still time, although who knows, maybe Im putting too much faith in them too.
