Excellent movie, but why in US movies do the police always react to such situations by sending in a battalion of cops? 1200 men to get one guy? Talk about using a sledgehammer to crack a nut!

@SunnyJim33 they really do bring that many men in, one is that it is a tactic to show the hostage takers there is a sizable force out there, and also they need to set a perimeter get snipers and spotters positioned, cordon off the area, traffic control, swat, holding back public, it does take a few guys.

What an underrated film. It really deserved to do better at the box office. Great performances and F Gary Gray still hasn't directed anything better. Sustains the tension and plot through an incredible 140 minutes. It's so good, the old cliches or the Die Hard parallels don't hamper your enjoyment at all.
