  • @AlexandriianaMayhew Well, DUH! It's Harry Potter!

  • the people who think harry's masturbating under the covers are idiots.

  • @MotherGothelFan01 Who thinks that?

  • @andyandcarl There were a lot of comments saying that with conviction

  • No no you have it all wrong Harry was studying in the middle of the night like in the book

  • Best film of the decade, really it is, they had a ranking. Totally deserves it.

  • I always wondered this...why didn't Harry just asked Petunia to sign it, she would know what Hogsmade is (surly Lily brought things home from there). SHe would of just sign it without even looking or caring, most likely just so he would leave her alone.

  • Vernon is fat.

  • @MrElvis96 hahaha

  • LMFAO YES I LOVE THIS SCENE AND THIS MOVIE SO MUCH!!! Bahaha Harry blowing up Marge never fails to crack me up!! And just now since I'm re-reading the series and just starting PoA, I never realized just how much dialogue in that scene was exactly as it is in the book. :D THIS MOVIE IS THE ONLY ONE THEY DID RIGHT. Thumbs up if you agree!!!

  • @mrshackztor they got all the potter films right. why do you think that staying true to a book means repeating it word for word? you need to capture the essence, brilliance, and spirit of the books in order to produce a great film. the potter film makers have done that. it was no easy task taking very long books and converting itinto the artful creations they are. If JK Rowling loves the films then you should too.

  • @jamerikan5689

I can love or hate whatever I want dear-I don't have to follow anyone's feelings but my own. And besides, I never said I didn't love them all, nor that they should copy the books word for word. No, what I meant was I really feel that this film is the only one in which they EXCELLED at capturing the real story with all the right elements, themes and character elements. All of the other ones were just fine, but this film was by far the best and is just simply my favorite.

  • @mrshackztor No one is gonna give you a thumbs up cause you're just plain wrong. The amazing thing about a movie is they can add more. Like Draco for instance. Tom brought so many layers to that character that wasn't seen in the books . Harry and Ginny is an example of why things need to be changed. Using everything that happens in a book does not make it good and only using a few things that happened does not make it bad. This film was amazing, because everything just fell into place.

  • @mrshackztor It was directed well for the most part, but there were a few things that brought it down for me: The opening scene contradicts the rule that forbids Harry from using magic at home. Cuaron also cut the revelation of who the marauders were, having negative effects on the following films.

Otherwise, it was very well done, but I can't say they got everything right here.

  • @mowingthefrontlawn

....But the opening scene is based on something that happened in the book. So why do you have a problem with it being in the movie?

  • @mrshackztor Because the book opens with Harry reading a book in bed, not breaking the law by using magic in bed.

  • @mowingthefrontlawn

True, but you're being very picky, lol. They chose to do certain things for cinematic value. The PoA movie still followed the book better than any of the other movies.

  • @mrshackztor The first two and last two also followed the book very closely, as well.

A scene that's inconsistent with the rest of the movie doesn't have that much cinematic value. But, yes, it is only one scene of a great film.

  • @mowingthefrontlawn

I guess I should have said cinematic appeal. That is, people don't want to see Harry just sitting in bed reading. It's much cooler to see him waving his wand and making light come out of it-it's just how movies work. But yes, only one scene of a great film. :)

  • @mowingthefrontlawn For those who're saying that Harry used magic outside school, that's not what he was trying to do...Harry was actually playing with his 'wand' in that scene. That is what Cuaron was implying. The opening scene is a not-so-thinly veiled allusion to something that teenage boys do under their sheets. All those people who hadn't read the books but watched this film understood that implication as soon as they saw that scene. It had nothing to do with Harry breaking the law.

  • @88narayandivya Oh, yes. But even though Harry is metaphorically exploring his body, he is literally breaking the law. And that's what the controversy's about (if not about whether a sexual reference was SO important that creating a plot hole was necessary).

Although, there is the explanation that what we see on screen is not what really happened, but is just an illustration of Harry's feelings.

  • Bad Harry! No magic outside of school!

  • @itsnomes haha lol
