@AlejjSi the rule existed on that time, and it meant the very same thing than today...just that usually they didn't apply a penalty for the backmarckers making the life hard to faster cars. In this case the blue flag was not to Senna, cause of course he was fighting for position
@wandererslegion Well, it was for Senna, they showed it to him many times up until the end of the race, even at Rascasse. I heard Jonathan Palmer explaining that. But if the rule existed back then, why Martin Brundle complained about another rule like this during the Spanish GO 1997, saying that it will destroy the real challenge of going through the backmarkers?
@AlejjSi In this case Senna wasn't a backmarcker, but someone who was fighting for the position. Check other GP's in this era and you will never see stewards giving blue flags to drivers fighting for position. Check the press conference at the end of the race, if the blue flag applied don't you think Mansell would have complained?
@AlejjSi Yes, i did investigate your claims and it seems you were right, given that the driver behind was faster in consecutive laps, the driver imediatly ahead was given the blue flag so he would only be able to maintain normal trajectories as a defense.Correct me if i'm wrong
@wandererslegion That´ll be right. What i appreciate most however is not that I was right :) but that you are one of few that can normally discuss, put their logic arguments and not to shaut at other peole, especially here on youtube. Btw I also had a look at the press conference after the GP and I must say I never heard a driver giving a compliment to the mas who has just beaten him to the flag, like Nigel did to Ayrton..great times, when I was just few months old :)
@AlejjSi If someone wants to discuss some idea there's no point in insulting, that just counter the chance of getting to a proper conclusion :) Let's now hope 2012 F1 season is great!Best regards
@roobberyy You can't tell that after saw this video. In the begining, Senna hasn't the best car. Look at the fact that Mansell close 15 seconds in 5 laps if i don't remember bad.
@PelaExile but vettel hasn´t the "best" car in monaco 2011 because he drove 53!! laps with the same fucking pirelli tyres. button and alonso were 20 laps or something close behind him. don´t forget with DRS and KERS it was more difficult for seb to stay in front. vettel is a great driver he will be a legend one day like ayrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrton senna <3 just look at the teams he was driving for and what happend with them toro rosso (minardi) or the "party team" red bull a few years ago
What beautiful mastery of racing! Senna was able to put his car in the right places at the right time to JUST stop Mansell from overtaking. Even with newer slicks on with more grip, Mansell put up a good fight.. but still wasn't able to pass the genius that is Senna.
@windflasher0 I know what sugar coating is. Is it not the truth? I asked for what you would say of this video, assuming that it wouldn't be "sugar coated." So tell me what it is. How would you explain Senna's mastery for racing?
@windflasher0 As I have stated, I understand the meaning. I'm asking you how you would describe his performance of this race then? If not, then describe to me his performance. He didn't win 3 world championships because people..

flp400 1 month ago
@flp400 Waved blue flag means move over, let faster car pass...but that rule didnt exist at that time oficially.
Here, Senna was just shown the blue flag, which means "a faster car behind you, may want to have a battle, take notice"

@wandererslegion Look at Monaco GP again in 1996, Irvine vs. Panis...before Panis passes Irvine, Eddie is shown the blue flag for a whole lap...

One of Senna's best ever drives, beating the incredible Williams in a car so uncompetitive throughout the year. Great job defending his position.
