This is an excellent movie! I watch this clip often because it is so well done and it makes me think of my time living and working in Tokyo. A very happy and exciting time. Since 1996 I have travelled to Japan every year. Now after the March 2011 9.0 earthquake, I feel sadness when I think of Japan.
i keep on watching that movie as i look for hours the painting of a master. The movie , the actors, the excellency of the soundtracck, the country , the story , the whole is PERFECT for me. Love from France. I really enjoy watching that vid. Good Job.
@michaimeskinsek I can relate, totally! I've just watched the movie for a 3rd time, 3rd day in a row. I have never been so touched by any movie before...
I just finished watching this movie.... but it doesn't make sense at all.
He is in Japan for a wiskey ad, she is in Japan with her husband and both realize they don't like their life... magically she know know a bunch of guys with whom they go have a good time (but before she seem to be confined in the hotel alone)... and than he return in USA.... BOOOORING!!!
@AUARAUARA When the husband leaves her, he says "Come along," and she declines with, "You'll just be busy. I'll call Charley.." He says, "Yeah, get with those guys." That proves he has known many Japanese. Not much magical about that, just a chat to set up the true encounters, some cannot forget. The magic of LIT, is proving innocent love can be more fulfilling than sex. Most men understand this. Sophia won an Academy Award for her screen play. It grossed over 800 million worldwide.
@AUARAUARA. My thought, although perhaps heavy handed, gilding the lily, was to show (in my estimation) a movie with that kind of gross, finds a home in the hearts of my people and word gets around about how great it is. If you found it offensive. Sorry. I will take back the award and financial reward part. Regardless, when he touches her foot...I am so there. When he whispers, most yearn to know, hoping, perhaps, it offers insight for a better life for both. Just how? Cannot say.
@AUARAUARA Romero and Juliet end badly. Both dead. Does that mean one of the world's great story of first love is boring? The best women I have met were not through introductions, or some dating service, each have their place...it was the chance encounter, call it what they said in the movie, "Sleepless in Seattle, " When his hand touches her, it was - Magic." We know and treasure that unique feeling. "Lost," is about choices. Yours is to be bored. Mine is to love the movie. I bought 4 copies.
@AUARAUARA U thnik this doesn't make sense because u r one of those that don't understand deep sense of this film, that sense is life, is about hard choices we have to make, he didn't simply returned to the USA, he had kids and wife, she has her life despite they feel in love in each other

Hmm, to me the writing, dialogue and scenarios where pretty lame. Also, the worst stereotypical and condescending depictions of japan i have ever seen.
You idiot. The movie wasn't about Japan. It wasn't even about Tokyo. Do you know ANYTHING about film criticism? Stay away from here if you are just intent on making a fool out of yourself.
So you deny that the humor is often based in stereotypical perceptions of Asians? "they're short, they're laughably polite, they eat weird food" Coppola shamelessly thinks it's hilarious when someone gets their "r"s and "l"s switched.
@moyergeo Their party friend, Charlie Brown, just got into some trouble with the people at a party. One of those people began to shoot him with his airsoft rifle and chased them all out of the party.
j'm addicted to this awesome movie( j have to watch it every month)..the karaoke scene(with this song) is priceless!j love this movie ,love tokyo(my fav city!Scarlett is beautiful and Bill Murray is incredible one of my fav actors ever!thanks mrs sophia coppola and thanks for this wonderful video!
This movie is a good example of the "monkeys and typewriters" principle: artists don't have to know what they're doing to occasionally produce something worthwhile.
Coppola clearly has no conscious idea what effect her movie produces . . . or how it produces that effect.
But who cares? It still produces the effect -- and that's the essential thing . . .
wow green just nailed the sentiment of this movie what's with the thumbs down people?? The movie's about that intangible effect, not plot or structure.. Coppola, even if she were more talented, couldn't have deliberately produced that effect; it just happened somehow.
Uh this isn't Hamlet and I hope you aren't trying to be funny because you have failed completely. If you can tell us all what Sofia is thinking, can you tell me what i am thinking right now? If you guessed I think you are an idiot, you get the gold cigar.
Your manners are demonstrably not very good . . . but I'll answer you anyway, because it may be of interest to other people.
It's really pretty simple: I don't need to know what Coppola WAS thinking . . . to know for a fact what she was NOT thinking.
For example, if someone misplaces their car keys . . . I don't have to know WHAT they were thinking about when they misplaced them . . . to know that they were NOT thinking about where they were placing them.
Indeed from seeing little Sofia in the Godfather when she was just a baby to imagine then she could have gone on to produce one of the finest films of the last twenty years, she's not quite in the class of her dad but she sure as sugar did him proud with Lost. For me it is the most evocative film of all time.
Dobry klip do naprawdę jednego z najpiękniejszych i najbardziej magicznych filmów jakie w życiu widziałem...choć wersja karaok schlanego Billa Murraya podoba mi się bardziej niż oryginał Ferrego
