Amon Amarth is Melo-death. Viking Metal is Folk metal that uses actual modernized viking music. Yeah, viking metal bands use viking/odinic lyrics, but Lyrics do not tie a band to a genre, the overall sound of the music does. Good example of Viking Metal is Tyr.

Motorhead claims to be rock 'n roll, but are in fact metal. what a band thinks they are doesn't always coincide with what the general populace thinks of them. and it wouldn't be simply "viking" metal. you would have to add melodic death before or after the viking if you wished describe them literally. but making a subgenre like that would be ridiculous. there are already too many different types of metal. we can let them simply be melodic death metal.

Amon Amarth is Melo-death. Viking Metal is Folk metal that uses actual modernized viking music. Yeah, viking metal bands use viking/odinic lyrics, but Lyrics do not tie a band to a genre, the overall sound of the music does. Good example of Viking Metal is Tyr.

I Agree, DT is about pure growling, and Stanne have the best growl in the world in my opinion, but i still like Anders better, cuz noone, NOONE can change Growl/clean singing like him, for me its like nummer 1: In Flames and 2: Dark Tranquillity and thats my absolut favorite bands!

Well take into consideration that the point of metal is to defy to mainstream and society in general. They're supposed to be an underground form of music that other people aren't supposed to understand. So be happy this band isn't as popular as say, Metallica. Metallica disgraced metal becoming too comercial and losing the spirit of metal by being greedy and wanting even more money. Those are 'sellouts' are.

You probably don't realize it but with that statement you showed that you know very little about death metal. Go listen to "The Red In The Sky Is Ours" and come back and say that again. That ATG album is more death metal than 99% of the rest of the scene.
