  • DIDN'T NERO ACTUALLY START THE CHICAGO FIRE?

  • “It doesn’t matter what is true, it only matters what people believe is true.” – Paul Watson, co-founder of Greenpeace

  • @YouriCarma True ;-)

  • But it makes for such a better story if we said he did.

  • @mrchrstpher True

  • It is well known that Nero didn't burn Rome, he wasn't even in the City when the fire grew up

  • You are surprised how many still believe that he did, have more clips on Rome.

  • Are you Dutch?

  • Correct

  • lol is this guy always walking, watch his other vidoes its funny

  • thanks i also have ancient battle presentations on my tube. Check it out. Have a great weekend

  • I just had a lecture on nero and i'm quite amazed Nero didn't burn Rome. Can't believe Horrible History lied to me! haha

  • you dont have a solid enough assesment to prove this

  • In a way we will never know for sure but, Tacitus (a trustworthy Roman writer) states he didn't.

  • tacitus was extremely bias...he certainly had a hatred for the julio claudians

  • True ,he didn't like them very much, its weird he didn't blame Nero for the fire (since he was a Julio Claudian)

  • I don't think you can be 100% sure about anything in History but I agree that most of the "evidence" comes from biased sources or accounts written long after the event.

**Whoa! Video way too dark! You've cranked up the contrast but now its hazy. Good Vid though**

  • Thanks for your comments, have you seen my ancient battle presentations ? On Vin Diesel I suggested Jay Z and Snoop Dogs because it would make more people go to see the movie.

Thanks again and more comming up.

  • Nice answer thanks! I was under the impression that Nero had grand plans for the city even before the fire, but for some reason the senate wouldn't back him until the crisis. But my knowledge of the event is hazy, so I might have confused my facts. Great videos, keep them coming.

  • No, you are right, Nero had plans for the city, he acctually wanted to rename Rome into Neropolis. Burning the city for it would be to drastic however, since he had the power to do anything he wanted. Its a thing Caligula may have done.

  • Yeah Caligula was always my favorite crazy emperor. I wonder if the Julio-Claudian Dynasty just had a "crazy" gene lurking around or if it was merely circumstance. It seems that anyone remotely tied with that family was either a genius or out of their mind, or both like Tiberius.

  • Bein looking forward to a new video!
