i just take bigger piece of original fabric,then pin it somehow roughly :-) so i get that whole picture and then make pattern and cut.is that right to do this way?
can somebody tell me if i can work somehow with original fabric and not muslin?i would try different design before choosing the best one,but before that id like to work with original as it gives me whole picture idea.-and also for people i'd show to.
so is it possible to drape with same fabric in couple ideas?or is it really better to choose some similar cheap fabric (muslin)and if so do you cut few blocks/circles from muslin that u can use for more time?
really?...your inspiration was Madeleine Bayonet? or Vionnet (its pronounced Dior but with a V instead of a D and -nnet at the end). h0w embarrasing that she cant pronounce the name ofo her "inspiration"..

you can do either...i do both...hold the pieces together with pins on the dummy first .. that way u get to play with it and explore the effects of draping ....once i know what im looking for i just make some neccessary markings... and sew whatever needs to be sewed.
@lyndelle01 What you do is start by pinning and marking your fabric on the dress form. The you take the fabric off and put it onto a paper pattern... Add seam allowance... Then you do a test fit with muslin again... To make sure it fits correctly and everything. Once you got it perfect you will use your fashion fabric.
