Your guys are eating it all wrong. You cracked open just enough to fit teaspoon in there, then scoop it into your mouth... little bit at a time (don't eat the whole thing at once, it's too big) Also instead of salt, try fish sauce mixed with little bit of melon juice and sugar. This bring out better flavor. Do not eat the hard white part, it's too chewy.

@Zeroxify13 there is a difference but im not really concerned about it. Balut is fertilized duck eggs...meaning it forms an embryo inside the egg. Chicken eggs bought at the store is unfertilized...its only egg yolk inside without the embryo. I like eating balut btw it tastes amazing

FYI it's also part of being Vietnamese, where it's called Au Vit Lon. It takes a couple of sittings, but as the guy says, it's basically just a mental thing, and once you get over that, they're really quite good. My only problem is that I just found out I have high cholesterol... Now I need to wait for Egg Beaters to come out with a version of this. hehehe ;-)

Please, I used to eat 3-6 a week. I'm from the Philippines and I can say for certain that balut or "balot" here is as common as popcorn to movies. You don't need and special attributes to appreciate it... just the ability to know good food when you taste it.
