What's this thing with the vocal nodes, though? Another singer friend of mine says she quite obviously has them, but she goes on about her throat doctor in interviews regularly, so why wouldn't she get that treated?
i dont understand it either. you would think that a singer like her has a superb vocal coach who would tell her the right thing to do. as far as i know, the operation is quite risky, and you may end up losing your voice (both singing and speaking) completely. but one of today's biggest opera stars Natalie Dessay had her nodules removed 3-4 years ago and she recently had a big comeback at the Royal Opera House in January. so i guess there is a degree of certainty
@bonafide327 She doesn't get them removed because theres a chance of completely losing your voice when you get them removed, and she's had them since she was a little kid. Like in this performance, she had them. She just learned how to work with it, but obviously having them for a long time means there just going to get worse and I believe thats what happened.
My mother was an accomplished opera singer and she loves Mariah. This is a difficult and challenging piece of serious song craftsmanship: Mariah pulls it off at ease back in 1994.
She truly is one hell of a "Bentley" of songbirds! Whitney is the Rolls Royce! Both are incredible car makers, both are incredible vocalists.
