I have to wonder why a magnificant turf horse with incredible bloodlines would be allowed to race on a sloppy dirt track in a faraway foreign country after being retired to stud, failing at that, and perhaps prematurely returned to racing again. Maybe the owners set this horse up for failure because they didn't want to spend the money to board an impotent thoroughbred for 20+ more years? Is this another Alydar-type situation?
He was so young and unpredictable, I loved watching him. Jim McGraths commentary of the 2000 guineas, kinda sums it up in his voice. He didn't know what to expect but you get the feeling by his voice he might have had a few quid on him. If Date with Destiny doesn't fulfill her dads potential, I hope she makes a brilliant dam.
One of my favourites this fella. Saw him win the 2000 G's at Newmarket and it was apparent then that I was watching a very very special horse. Gorgeous George indeed.
He was bred by the same people who bred Barbaro, the Jacksons. The track was sloppy, and GDI that's why horses should be banned from running on a sloppy track! It's DANGEROUS!!

coolmore stud is my dads client at the moment were george washington was kept he was my favourite horse out of them all they said he wasnt the best racer but he had the best personality out of all of them!!
He certainly did have a great personality! My heart goes out to all his connections and fans. What a tragic loss, but he won't be forgotten any time soon.
If he was a turf horse, why were they racing him in the Classic?

I was right in front of him when I saw him break down. It's something I won't forget easily. RIP

Reminds me of Pine Island's injury. Her foot was broken like that too.

Great vid! It was such a tragedy how he went out! :(
I personally blame it on the track condition.

My god.
Those first two pictures are the worst I've ever seen in my life. Great video other wise, but I would have really loved a warning.
I love George Washington more than you know. I do not like seeing him like that.
