i have a dream of starting up something based on the 'habitat for humanity' method where communities get together to legally remove dams that have been slated for demolition--that would be a good start, and an excellent model for the people who think that taking down a dam is 'violence'
jensen addresses this a bit in vol. 2 of endgame
sorry for the comment bombs--it's 'catch up with adam' day in pcripple world. you are doing great work, bro.
cop out and you appear to be better? than that dude, but you're not reading this right? checked out your stuff though and its cool. I am growing food and energy like a madman and it takes lil to do so. lil smarts for sure - haha. anywho, decentralize and make this so called civilization go away cause it is everywhere and its noisy!
wrong by a longshot Vlkoze1. they were feeding their greed and growth. There are simply to many of us(you) now, and we cannot navigate around the destruction of biodieversity via dominion(dams and the like) of which I think you're infected. yowser! your time would be better spent gaining a true understanding of nature and humans place with it and not attempting to rule it or circumvent it.wow, usually I'm an asshole and angry at the complete ignorance of humans - esp. Americans. not today.
very interesting and very vital subject here. I live by a dry river bed...it only carries water in the rainy season with each storm...but living by one really illustrates how vital they are to ecosystems...life and trees, bees and butterflies, birds, insects...all thrive in them...
Yeah, I'm really interested in setting up a gray water system...and this book sounds great for that and other info. Thanks for the heads up Adam...and do keep us posted as far as the dam killing project...would love to be involved in that if at all possible, though I'm sure there are plenty closer to me that I could be doing something about. Would be interested to learn how you are able to find out which dams and where they are, so I can take similar steps over here. Thanks.
.... TODAY, the dams cause hundreds of thousands of deaths and unimaginable suffering. who the hell are you to be talking about 20,000 years from now?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
The worst things began with the best of intentions Velkoze. As we gather knowledge about what works and what doesn't ,we should adapt and make changes keeping in mind our place here. A dam or a coming 'ice-age' aren't exceptions.
that's the most insightful comment i've ever read vel... the world knows exactly what to do with all this trash. and if people have the time and energy to dismantle a dam, why not! adam, if it pays let me know i will bring my own sledge hammer.
yes yes YES!
