I have been on this crap for about a month now. It works as far as relieving of my anxiety, but the side effects suck. I have constant headaches and nausea as well as blurred vision and constipation. I like the fact that it has relaxed me, but what can I do about the symptoms? My doctor keeps telling me that the side effects will pass, but how long do I need to deal with them?

I actually winged my self off of this stuff and it wasn't nearly as bad as everyone has stated.. I had a few kicks with small eye seizures (Which aren't bad just because of the word seizure guys -__- They're more annoying than anything) because of my own stupidity, but after that, I felt a little apathetic at first, but you just have to realize that it's the withdrawals and not you so you can fight the feeling. Took me about 2 weeks to get off of it.
@exibero....yes, Paxil is good for anxiety but the withdrawl from missing days and long term use is not so cool. I have been taking this for over 20 years and I would love to wween off it slowly. There are other ways~! Let's stop the pharmecutical companies from drugging the world~!
I found paroxetine to be a savor, i suffer from flushing and social phobia, Have been on it before and come off it ok, Biggest thing for me was the apathy and the nightmares but a small price to pay for the not giving a fuck feeling it brings, so fuck off all the haters
If the drug didn't work for you why stroll around videos and only feed the fear of people who already have a fear disorder? This really fucked up my first few days with the drug because I had the fear of terrible things to happen, when in fact nothing happened. If after those 3-4 days of taking it nothing bad happens, try having a positive outlook on how your situation will improve... And as I wrote before go to a fucking therapy to dig to the root of the problems that caused your situation!!
Just to show people that not every case of withdrawl need to be severe... I was on this for a year, and the withdrawels were rather light (vivid nightmares, hangover-feeling) and only lasted for like 1 1/2 weeks.
Always have a pschological therapy simultaneously though, because anxiety/depression usually has a reason that won't just disappear and will come back if you just tok the medication. Pills are only a method to decrease symptoms, not the root.
I am currently taking paroxetine at 20mg and only experience mild vertigo other than that no other side effects. Seems safe to me and has dramatically improved my mood and well being

I took Paxil for a while and I had felt worse. I was constantly fatigued, which I was told I would get over after my body adjusted, yet I never did. My anxiety shot through the roof. My depression became morbid. Doing some research myself I found a study conducted in Germany that showing St. John's Wort making a statistically significant outperformance vs paxil in a large double-blind environment. Consulted with an herbalist, switched and have been doing much better since (2 years now).

I was not aware until a few years ago that paxil and prozac,both of which i took for 1-6 years,contain flourine(flouride)which is known to be toxic to brain,nervous system and liver,and also a carcinogen,mind-number and immune suppressant.Read the alarming history of flouride and the fraud created from it and throw your antidepressants in the trash.I have taken no drugs since 2006,but who knows what irreversible effects this shit had on my brain.I took other psych drugs as well,but no more.

This medication actually works very well in anxiety disorders like Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), but you should not take it for more than a year. I suffered GAD for over four months, so I went to see a doctor specialized in anxiety disorders and depression, who prescribed me this medication, and now I feel just like I did before I had GAD. I'm back to normal, but you have to keep doing physical exersice to prevent a future relapse. Hope this info helps.

My doctor put me on paxil about a month ago, for moderate to severe anxiety, and it's not helping shit. They said to ride it out for about 6 weeks to get the full effects, and not to stop because It can make shit worse. I didn't feel depressed before, but now I do, and I'm afraid to stop because these horrible thoughts might get worse. Just goes to show you can't slap a generic SSRI on anyone and cure their shit, try actually doing your job, kthanks.

I took this tablet for a while a few years back - at first it was brilliant! I felt like a new person - it was like suddenly being free to do what I wanted. Unfortunately the side affects are the problem ie. not being able to perform sexually. So I just stopped taking them one day when they ran out - boy was that a mistake! I couldn't stand up for near on 3 days - I didn't even realise what was doing it at first. So I got back on them and slowly reduced my intake.

@violettt21 I m using it for quite sometime - 10mg a day... believe me after 5 takes of taking it, you do not feel anything at all as a side effect (sexual dysfnc and drowsiness). they all go away.. only important issue - make sure you do not get pregnant while using it as it causes severe birth defects. AND YES - IT WORKS GREAT

Based on my experience some generics cause really bad side effects and don't do much help. I think the bad experiences come from the generics produced in India like those from Zydus(sold at Walgreens) or Aurobindo. My withdrawal process completely failed because in the middle of the process my generic manufacturer changed (Apotech stopped manufacturing), but I thought the headaches and IBS I was experiencing for months were withdrawal symptoms. I have been on paxil for 14 yrs it took me on my own 1 1/2 yrs to go from 40 mg down too 22.5mg with no help from any doctor or pharmasist like above.. Coming off the paxil was hard for me too, but not as hard as the endless nightmares. I don't think the problem is the drug, I think the problem is the doctors. They're too eager to prescribe the drug, even to people who have clearly situational depression.
If you lost someone you love or have PTSD Paxil is the equivalent of taking an Advil for a stab wound, it may help numb the pain but it won't solve the problem. Only addressing the actual problem will solve it, not pills.
i agree, i have depression but i know taking a drug in the long run will make me depend on it. so in 10 years or so i will be numb and depend on drugs so i would rather ride it out.
it works for me, my life has improved and im alot easier person to be around period. i always had problems following direction, racing thoughts, unable to connect with people... paxil has helped.. this drug is for people like me with brain chemical problems, not some 40 year old housewife going through a rough divorce... thats why people get sick is because they dont need it

this medication is one of many different types that, unfortunately, you have to trial and error until you find what works for you. Zoloft nearly caused my death, but Paroxitine saved my life. good luck to you all finding what works for you
I have 3 friends who took this drug and suffered serious effects as a result: electric shocks in the head, uncontrollable bouts of rage/crying, black outs, complete loss of appetite, suicidal thoughts. So yeah, maybe this drug will work for you - but if it doesn't, you have my condolences.
I have just stopped taking Paxil after long-term use.The reason I stopped is I read up on it on the Mayo Clinic site.I am going through withdrawal at the moment.INot pleasant but I'll survive.On the site they give side-effect profiles for drugs.Looking at the side-effects,I realised that I had a heap of them;and what's more the shrink that prescribed Paxil to me didn't mention any of them!Low sex drive,weight gain,irritability,nervousness,chest congestion,higher risk of suicide...Avoid Paxil!
Not sure which Paxil you guys are all taking, but the Paxil I'm taking is working totally awesome. I see a lot of bad stuff written in here, but it's totally improved my life compared to what it was. I am taking it for anxiety, but my friend took it for depression and he said it didn't work. My brother is taking for anxiety too and it's really helped him out a ton. I think it works for long term use but does have minor side effect. I think the pros outweigh the cons though.

I was not aware until a few years ago that paxil and prozac,both of which i took for 1-6 years,contain flourine(flouride)which is known to be toxic to brain,nervous system and liver,and also a carcinogen,mind-number and immune suppressant.Read the alarming history of flouride and the fraud created from it and throw your antidepressants in the trash.I have taken no drugs since 2006,but who knows what irreversible effects this shit had on my brain.I took other psych drugs as well,but no more.

I had to start taking this trash 10 years ago due to depression, but it got worse in the beginning, after 4-5 months i started to feel numb and when i decided to quit (bad idea) i had the blackest thoughts i ever had, sudden flashes in my brain, blackouts, a real empty feeling i never want to experience again, now i have come to the point where i only take a quarter of it, but quitting is impossible.Poison.

This medication actually works very well in anxiety disorders like Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), but you should not take it for more than a year. I suffered GAD for over four months, so I went to see a doctor specialized in anxiety disorders and depression, who prescribed me this medication, and now I feel just like I did before I had GAD. I'm back to normal, but you have to keep doing physical exersice to prevent a future relapse. Hope this info helps.

My doctor put me on paxil about a month ago, for moderate to severe anxiety, and it's not helping shit. They said to ride it out for about 6 weeks to get the full effects, and not to stop because It can make shit worse. I didn't feel depressed before, but now I do, and I'm afraid to stop because these horrible thoughts might get worse. Just goes to show you can't slap a generic SSRI on anyone and cure their shit, try actually doing your job, kthanks.

I took this tablet for a while a few years back - at first it was brilliant! I felt like a new person - it was like suddenly being free to do what I wanted. Unfortunately the side affects are the problem ie. not being able to perform sexually. So I just stopped taking them one day when they ran out - boy was that a mistake! I couldn't stand up for near on 3 days - I didn't even realise what was doing it at first. So I got back on them and slowly reduced my intake.

@violettt21 I m using it for quite sometime - 10mg a day... believe me after 5 takes of taking it, you do not feel anything at all as a side effect (sexual dysfnc and drowsiness). they all go away.. only important issue - make sure you do not get pregnant while using it as it causes severe birth defects. Based on my experience some generics cause really bad side effects and don't do much help. I think the bad experiences come from the generics produced in India like those from Zydus(sold at Walgreens) or Aurobindo. My withdrawal process completely failed because in the middle of the process my generic manufacturer changed (Apotech stopped manufacturing), but I thought the headaches and IBS I was experiencing for months were withdrawal symptoms. I have been on paxil for 14 yrs it took me on my own 1 1/2 yrs to go from 40 mg down too 22.5mg with no help from any doctor or pharmasist like above.. Paxil is not the answer for anxiety it helpes for the first yr of my life but after that the other 13 it limited my daily activities, causes severe disorientation, vertigo ect.. the with draws trying to get off of this medication is compared to crack cocane. I was morning the loss of my mother. why was i not inturduced to herbal remedies.

Paxil, avoid it like the plague! I was diagnosed with PTSD from all the fuckin combat tours the Army gave me. The shrink put me on a cocktail (paxil 60mg, klonopin 4mg)being on them, I gained 25 pounds in six months. I was active; going to the gym, swimming and taking the dogs out. I just stopped taking them because i ran out of refills one day and this is horror, worse than my PTSD!!

Unfortunately due to a form of swine flu my serotonin levels went way down and I have had a relapse. Coming off the paxil was hard for me too, but not as hard as the endless nightmares. I don't think the problem is the drug, I think the problem is the doctors. They're too eager to prescribe the drug, even to people who have clearly situational depression.
If you lost someone you love or have PTSD Paxil is the equivalent of taking an Advil for a stab wound, it may help numb the pain but it won't solve the problem. Only addressing the actual problem will solve it, not pills.

paxil works, its not paxil its you people you guys are screw ups. it like beer it depends on the person who drinking, some get violent some get sad some get happy ect.

this medication is one of many different types that, unfortunately, you have to trial and error until you find what works for you. Zoloft nearly caused my death, but Paroxitine saved my life. good luck to you all finding what works for you

I have 3 friends who took this drug and suffered serious effects as a result: electric shocks in the head, uncontrollable bouts of rage/crying, black outs, complete loss of appetite, suicidal thoughts. So yeah, maybe this drug will work for you - but if it doesn't, you have my condolences.

I have just stopped taking Paxil after long-term use.The reason I stopped is I read up on it on the Mayo Clinic site.I am going through withdrawal at the moment.INot pleasant but I'll survive.On the site they give side-effect profiles for drugs.Looking at the side-effects,I realised that I had a heap of them;and what's more the shrink that prescribed Paxil to me didn't mention any of them!Low sex drive,weight gain,irritability,nervousness,chest congestion,higher risk of suicide...Avoid Paxil!

Not sure which Paxil you guys are all taking, but the Paxil I'm taking is working totally awesome. I see a lot of bad stuff written in here, but it's totally improved my life compared to what it was. I am taking it for anxiety, but my friend took it for depression and he said it didn't work. My brother is taking for anxiety too and it's really helped him out a ton. I think it works for long term use but does have minor side effect. I think the pros outweigh the cons though.
