My old man tried to drive his A9X at least once a month, he even let me drive it a couple of times. It was awesome to drive the 308 had some work though having around 400hp in a 1140kg car.
@98HsvGts My TE about 20nm less torque! It looks to new school for me. TE50 is a muscle car....The new one is so refined. I know it is very quick and a good car i would say. I would not own one though. I would not own a performance car newer than my TE....I like old cars. Only reason i bought the TE is it is un refined, you you floor it, it spins 1st and 2nd and just shakes...it shakes at idle, even sounds like a old muscle car. If i had my way though i would own a old XB or something

Nothing these days can give you the same feeling. I used to own a Lx V8 2 door (no flares) when i was on my P Plates (8 years ago), I lost my license and sold it for $3500. Im kicking my self now as would be worth at least $20,000. Mind you my Vt should be worth something one day like your TE should to.

My neighbour use to own a phase 3 in orange with the black interior. Sold it in 1973 for $3700 with 3000 miles on it. His kicking himself. Friend of mine has a 308 SS LX 2 door in his shed. Nice car! Never gets driven though.....

I have the harrop 4 piston brakes all round and i love them, they pull me up all day on a dime dry or wet dosent matter.
i have driven a au xr8 s3 220kw 5 speed manual and a bf gtp 6 speed tiptronic, and i found the gt to be a better overall package. Mind you the gt was fully optioned brembos and all. As for t series i have never driven one so maybe it is a better car then the ba gt. As for leather nothing comes close to the coulson seats im my gts.
@Greno hard to say, both have good and bad points. Ba gt has better brakes, handling, interior and a 6 speed manual. But is let down by the engine. For rarity i would pick the au but anything else the ba.
@98HsvGts LOL BA has better handling? Are you mad?! Go drive both. The AU XR and T series was the best handling falcon ever made. Interior with the leather on the AU and T was alot better. Gearbox was a let down on the AUs...BA GT only has better brakes if there brembos.
@gshdrums The AU XR8 was a far better package but lacked power. AU XR handles flat with hardly any body roll. My mates BF GTP rocks around like a boat. The TE trumps them all. The fact not one bit of my interior has anything wrong with it when all the holden interiors fall apart says something. Brembos are useless unless you wanna jizz on them. There good for a track but around the street there useless. My Tickford brakes pull me up fine on the street.
sorry i just did some more research and you are probably right, alot of ford guys say the te50 is quicker then a ba gt-p (only just). so i take that last comment back. So basically it would come down to driver, tyres, amount of fuel etc. Between a 1998 hsv vt gts s1 and a 2002? Au te50 s3. Both the gts and te50 are capable of high 13 to low 14 second 1/4 mile times @160km/h.

@gshdrovns you cant compare your te50 to a ss. You have to compare it to hsv in that year model and you lose hands down. Your te50 would even struggle next to my 1998 hsv vt gts series 1 (not a ls1), it will do 0-100kmh in 5.7secs and 400m in 13.9sec and a top speed of 265kmh+ and i have the factory 4 piston harrop brakes all round so i would out brake you all day as well. So do some research before saying your au fords are quicker then holdens.

It's a well known fact that from new the 3.5 Magnas couldn't run better than a 16.0 and Holden & Ford 8s have run between low 14s and low 15s for years, easily.

@gshdrums check my vid out its a stock 5.7 ( 0-220 ) with the exception of a k&n filter. I prefer my ford to a holden but now days there pretty much as much. Yes I do have a TE aswell with shorter diff gears & yea it still wont catch the 5.7 litre. 5.7 has since been tuned so cant compare now

@Sasquatch279 The 185 200 and 220 where yes. They where in the XR8`s and some of the standard falcons with tickford badges also go the 185kw XR8 motor....there rare to find but are out there. If you see a standard AU V8 with tickford badges it may the be one. the 175kw was the standard V8 and it was not tickford, was in the standard falcons and stuff, but as i said there where a few standard falcons made that got the XR8 185 Motor.....Series 1`s...

Well they are now. Its not fast compared to todays HSVs and F6`s but it goes pretty good.....210rwhp on the dyno and 6.7 0-100kph on a cold night..

i counted 7s to 100, which is pretty decent for an automatic, i'd be happy with that (til i get a hold of better extractors, cold air filter & a performance chip hopefully landing me in sub 6 territory)!
I got 6.7 out of it these days.....it has a cool air intake...I was also stalling it up way to high.....It was just bogging down....So yeh on my gtech timer best i get out of it is a 6.7

@TVRnGTR well you do realise that when i say best australian cars, i said one of, and its a relative thing. im not talking about high performance, expensive vehicles. and you're right, the xr6T is fucking amazing, drove one last year and was blown away.

@wue2117 lol sorry about that i always consider bang for buck before anything else. In the relative sense i think australian cars are some of the most underrated vehicles, i like both holden and fords but as my personal preference i'm towards ford more, but they both have mean-arse styling, huge interiors, F@CKING QUICK (understatement), quite possibly the best cars you can buy under $100k ( exceptions being the W427, christ what a cock up THAT was) definately well made homegrown beasts.

@Sasquatch279 The 185 200 and 220 where yes. They where in the XR8`s and some of the standard falcons with tickford badges also go the 185kw XR8 motor....there rare to find but are out there. If you see a standard AU V8 with tickford badges it may the be one. the 175kw was the standard V8 and it was not tickford, was in the standard falcons and stuff, but as i said there where a few standard falcons made that got the XR8 185 Motor.....Series 1`s...

@Sasquatch279 Good move apart from the EB bit, to long in the tooth. try do it to a series 2 XR8 which high kms on it....AFR 165 heads are good even 185......trickflow is great.......This is a guy from my car club who did a TrickFlow Street Burner Kit....He is running a 13.1 its auto...and he ran a 12.2 on NOS....

hey m8 is that flat strap cause i have an ef 6 cyl with pacemaker extractors hi flo cat and 2 and a half inch cat back exhaust it has also just been converted to manual it has beeten a ba xr6 several times and seems to be alot quicker than that from 0-100 but nice vid anyway

Oh my god....A nice youtube user thats a change......Yeh there was alot of people who loved them about 3-4 years after the came out now its hard to get yours hands on a good one.....there the last of the Tickfords they will be a very sort after car. Well they are now. Its not fast compared to todays HSVs and F6`s but it goes pretty good.....210rwhp on the dyno and 6.7 0-100kph on a cold night..

Exactly. Yeh it wont beat a 285kw HSV.........But it goes pretty well....It beats alot of other 8`s and turbos....Its actually quicker than this now slightly. It goes. I enjoy driving it....

i counted 7s to 100, which is pretty decent for an automatic, i'd be happy with that (til i get a hold of better extractors, cold air filter & a performance chip hopefully landing me in sub 6 territory)!

I got 6.7 out of it these days.....it has a cool air intake...I was also stalling it up way to high.....It was just bogging down....So yeh on my gtech timer best i get out of it is a 6.7
