Fiat 500 is the best choice. Not just better looking. It's got a 5 star euroNCAP crash safety rating and better resale values than KA. Get an Abarth 500 model for best performance. I've got one and it's fantastic fun. GO FIAT :)
I've been in both cars at the dealerships and have test-driven both. I prefer the exterior and interior retro looks of the Fiat 500, however the Ford Ka is better to drive, has a feeling of more space when you're sat in the front, and has a bigger boot/trunk. It's also cheaper than the Fiat 500. It's a tough choice, but overall its a question of looks v performance.
so I encourage people to consider the mark1 Ka (standard & sport) OVER 500 & mark2 Ka
however if only interested in 500 & mark2 Ka then
1) If 500's power is equivalent to mark2 Ka then get the Ka as the chassis has been improved and it does handles better than the 500
2) if you opt for a 500 with a better engine than mark2 ka then you got to decide which is more important straight line speed (yawns) or speed in corners/bends (fun)
3) if its the Abarth; then forget the Ka and get the Abarth
Ford KA, if your looking on buying either of them, ford KA is faster, better ride, better stereo, and if done up good! Looks better, google ford ka st, thats what my mates looks like!

So they compared a diesel ford to a "Sports" petrol version (which is bound to have extras) of the fiat....
Fiats are known for falling apart so while fords are not exactly oozing quality at this price range I would take a ford over a fiat any day.

@Budrock44 agreed sportka mark1 is awesome, but the standard mark1 Ka is equally as good.
The mark1 Ka (standard and sport) has one of the finest chassis in a small car; resulting in a fun drive.
The fiat 500 and mark 2 Ka is dull and lifeless and certainly cannot be driven as well as the mark1 Ka in corners, bends and B-roads.
