@AzikuraProductions yes but Ubisoft have said it's not the end of the Assassins Creed games. The last game with Desmond is due to be out before December 2012.

After that there is going to be a new central charater for the games that follow.

i think the next assassins creeed will be about desmond being an assassin like altair and ezio in the modern days but he figures out the last assassin was in russia.

@JDoxx96 It's already been stated that it will follow another ancestor of Desmond's in the past, possibly in Egypt or something. There was also a quote I read somewhere stating that the aspect of history in the series in a fundamental part of it. I too would love to see Desmond have a full fledged finale to the series, but I don't think that's what the devs are planning.
