guitar hero is the best ever. do you know why? because the drum kit for guitar hero doesnt break so fast. my friend has rockban 1 and 2 and his drumkit broke in not even a week, and he barely playes it!!!! it just sits ther day, after day. i have world tour and i enjoy it. its probably more realistick then rockban because the neck slider. and the drums, you cant hit the symbol notes on the rockband drums. its bull crap.get guitar hero 4 not rockband. and rockband stole the idea of the colours.

I believe MuchRockness to be 150% correct and if you say guitar hero's character customization is better or more in depth, at least Rock Band's look humanly possible, and the song creator sucks, its more complicated than Farcry 2's mapmaker.
What I think is that both games are awesome, if you loved Rock Band, you will love the sequel. If you love Guitar Hero games, the GHWT is for you. You decide RB2 or GHWT!!
If you suck at timing, then go with Guitar Hero because the window in which you can hit the note is more forgiving. With Rock Band, the timing is smaller and it makes hitting a note much more rewarding and trains you to really feel like you're connected to that instrument.
Also, I think Rock Band does something to their audio mixing- it really sounds like you're triggering the instrument audio, whereas on Guitar Hero it feels like you're just pressing buttons while music plays overtop.
Also, the rectangular notes in Rock Band are a bit easier to stack onscreen, so when it comes to faster notes, they're more legible than Guitar Hero's circular-shapes that have to mush together.
Also, Guitar Hero's characters all look like morons. Rock Band's are much less wonky, and actually fit with a wide spectrum of musical styles, from classic rock to pop to alt rock. The girls are really eye-catching, if you're a guy. The only girl I like in GH is Hayley Williams.
A huge advantage for Rock Band is that you can transfer your RB1 songs off the disc and DLC into Rock Band 2. I just did this tonight and it unlocked new challenges for my tour, letting me revisit songs I haven't played for a year. And you can buy the AC DC disc and transfer those songs too. You don't need to swap discs just to play those songs.

those are stupid ass reasons to say why ghwt is better. you forgot to mention how much multiplayer and world tour mode SUCK compared to rock band. with rock band the multiplayer is more friendly for beginners and the world tour mode, it's actually fun to play with a ton of variety from setlists to the fan system. it's not some half assed excuse that ends up making you play extended setlists.
why not rb2? I have the same problem as you that harmonix didnt release the new instruments in europe yet. But you can still buy the rb2 special edition on ebay shops.

I have both games and Rock Band 2 easily keeps me coming back for more. GHWT got pretty old except for a couple songs I like to play. If you can only buy 1 get Rock Band 2 which has the superior instruments as well. GHWT drums are very faulty, some have broken in the same day they were bought.

I go with rockband because with gh your drum set isnt as reliable as you think it is..there are problems with the cymboys and stuff. With rb1 there is a metal foot petal (which i fuckin love) that is 100 times better than the rb 1 petal and the drums are more responsive and they look good in your room or where ever you live and black rb set looks just way better than gh drum set.i am a drummer and i have played both drum sets and gh set isnt as good as the rb set ssssoo.... My greatest wish this christmas is Guitar Hero: World Tour, here in Denmark we never actualy heard about Rock Band before nearly one year after the original release.
I own both GHWT and RB1 band kits, and I have to say both games are brilliant. I am happy that both Activision and HMX provide us with such experiences. If I had to compare both, I would say that the actual Rock Band game is better than GHWT, but the GHWT instruments are better than Rock Bands. GHWT drums feel like you are actually playing real drums, unlike the RB drums that are too damn loud. I dont have RB2 so I cant compare their instruments. I will get the KISS silencers for my RB drums
Think of Harmonix and Activision teaming up. ROCK BAND 2 and GUITAR HERO WORLD TOUR!! it would be called maybe ROCK BAND WORLD TOUR (ROCK BAND 3). THE DRUMS would be amazing and the Songs.
I own both GHWT and RB2... I half agree with the instruments... the drums on ghwt are awesome!... but the guitar sucks! and its almost the opposite with RB2... ... The songs are waaay better with rock band 2.. except they need to add some TooL songs to it!!
Wow, the level of intelligence on these posts is mind-blowing. The key to the long term success and the driving force of these games-song choices/downloadable content. That's it!! The equipment is virtually the same on both games. When I play the game I want the best and most songs. The equipment is second. If you're smart you have to give the nod to RB2 for now and in the long run. More and better songs as well as the comfort on knowing the Harmonix are the true masterminds behind it all.
I think, that the best one was GH1 then on the 3rd one they put some shit songs like slipknot and stuff and now on the 4th one there are only few good songs, where the hell are all the good old classic rock songs?! But Rock Band still sucks much more... P.S. That's just my opinion. :)

i know what your saying, ghwt was in development first... but rock band was still an original idea of a much higher quality from harmonix and activision just really didnt bring out the best in guitar hero world tour.
Ah I have to agree with you there, RB2 does look much cleaner and more professional. So, my advice would be, if you want a game to play and have fun get GH:WT but if you want a game that is much more professional and musical orientated get RB2.

Guitar Hero World Tour better make it so you can play Rock Band's instruments... I have the bass guitar and it didn't work. I plug it in and it said I had to play vocals with it. Lol, so I tried and it didn't work out so good. Well, anyone else noticed the Rock Band 2 guy basically never blinks?

I like the Rockband drumkit over Guitar hero's simply because you can actually hear yourself play. On Guitar hero it is so quiet, it just does not feel like your playing.

Well, I think Rock Band looks more professional and more mature, but I dont care about stuff like that. I just wanna have fun.
Rock Band has more songs but I like the Guitar hero songs more. Its just my opinion but I think I like Guitar Hero more..

GHWT is much better.
-you can make your own character
-you can make your own songs
-theres an itunes for anyone who wants to download new songs
-the characters they give you are much better
-its original
-its easier to unlock stuff
-there are famous people you can play with such: Hayley Williams, Ozzy Osbourne, and Ted Nugent
So thats why I think GHWT is much better :]

I own both GHWT and RB1 band kits, and I have to say both games are brilliant. I am happy that both Activision and HMX provide us with such experiences. If I had to compare both, I would say that the actual Rock Band game is better than GHWT, but the GHWT instruments are better than Rock Bands. GHWT drums feel like you are actually playing real drums, unlike the RB drums that are too damn loud. I dont have RB2 so I cant compare their instruments. I will get the KISS silencers for my RB drums

I own both GHWT and RB2... I half agree with the instruments... the drums on ghwt are awesome!... but the guitar sucks! and its almost the opposite with RB2... ... The songs are waaay better with rock band 2.. except they need to add some TooL songs to it!!

Wow, the level of intelligence on these posts is mind-blowing. The key to the long term success and the driving force of these games-song choices/downloadable content. That's it!! The equipment is virtually the same on both games. When I play the game I want the best and most songs. The equipment is second. If you're smart you have to give the nod to RB2 for now and in the long run. More and better songs as well as the comfort on knowing the Harmonix are the true masterminds behind it all.

I think, that the best one was GH1 then on the 3rd one they put some shit songs like slipknot and stuff and now on the 4th one there are only few good songs, where the hell are all the good old classic rock songs?! But Rock Band still sucks much more... P.S. That's just my opinion. :)

i bought guitar hero world tour. the drums suck. cant really hear them when your playing. rock band feels more realistic. guitar hero just feels like your playing a stupid game

1) Guitar Hero was made before Rock Band HOWEVER It's not as if Rock Band copied Guitar Hero, that's just like saying "Brothers in Arms" copied "Call of Duty" NO. Also,Neversoft actually came up with the idea of drums. They were going to make a separate game called "Drum Hero" look it up.
2) I like both games, however I think Guitar Hero 4 will have the edge with the music creation mode.
3) Stop fighting like 4 year olds and grow up.

Ah I have to agree with you there, RB2 does look much cleaner and more professional. So, my advice would be, if you want a game to play and have fun get GH:WT but if you want a game that is much more professional and musical orientated get RB2.

I played a freaking demo of RB2 today (and I own GH:WT) and RB wins by a long shot. The drums are an epic fail, and the song creator makes it so the instruments sound like little toys. I tried to make America Fuck Yeah, and it sounds really gay

Guitar Hero World Tour better make it so you can play Rock Band's instruments... I have the bass guitar and it didn't work. I plug it in and it said I had to play vocals with it. Lol, so I tried and it didn't work out so good. Well, anyone else noticed the Rock Band 2 guy basically never blinks?
For my vote, it goes to both. BOTH games are generally good and just because one has unique features, doesn't mean you can't buy both. ;)

OMG gh4 is waaaaay better than rb2 not only because of the drums, but because of all the other features like recoring and creating your own music! i mean rb2 only has new songs and battle of the bands, plus the new guitar is AWESOME!! the touch thing is sooo cool!! ohh and the money.. i no a lot of people say that rb2's drum kit is better.....it is...but its only better if u pay the extra 50 for un-needed symbols. and to me gh4 is the right and smarter choice.

I like the Rockband drumkit over Guitar hero's simply because you can actually hear yourself play. On Guitar hero it is so quiet, it just does not feel like your playing.
