  • Great Cordless Electric Guitars !

  • I was serving in Germany in 67-69. Fun to see them again. They, and other bands, got us thru the lonly times. I was lucky not to serve in Nam. I salute all of you.

  • so why didnt they "blow" beatles

    ?

  • @candyrayne215 " Blow "... The Beatles ??

  • @mrstevehartman i mean, was it the beatles popularity that kept turtles from being more popular?

  • @candyrayne215 Possibly. I think The Beatles kept a lot of groups from being more popular, at the time. It was hard to compete, with the " Fab Four " !

  • Its just a great song. I love it :)

  • Just came from a Turtles concert, tonight 2-25-12 in Staten Island, NY. These guys still got it, they did a great job with their old stuff and even did a few Zappa songs. Great show, great sound!

  • @StatenIslandsouth2 I saw them at Joans Beach with zappa and the mothers in 87 they are so funny. what true performers

  • Classics will never die, so melodical then and now!!

  • What's with all the chairs?

  • Fantastic group,love Howards vocals,love Johnny Barbata's drumming

  • Nice haircut =) <3 THIS SONG SOOOO MUCH!

  • the 50,s and 60,s were the best time,s for rock and roll 70,s 80,s for good love song,s. class elgance talent ruled. unlike ttoday were all you hear is bongle from the jungle noise filithy sicking rap noise and hick music doobiebro76. If anybody wonder,s about my remark about my bongle from the jungle rap noise. Look at the colored group,s of the 50,s 60,s 70,s the music they made and what is called music now. Quite a difference and change not for the better

  • @sophie1065 Hi,have you heard of the Ojays,Spinners,Temps,Teddy,Al,Barry,EWF,Rufus,Otis, just to name a few.I would never time or year date (the time when the music came out) any music I listen to.I want the younger people to hear all the beautiful music with out dates to the music.I almost forgot,my grandson loves James Brown. He's 3 years old and he dig's the sound of James Brown.I saw him 10 times in my life (last time was 2005) he always had a great show.

  • @485zombiestomp yes i have remember them quite well they were good group,s. Their music was a joy to hear and a pleasure to leastien to. To bad though today,s mmusic is thhat filithy rap bongle from the jungle noise. Then the group,s you said and other,s knew how to act like ladies and gentelmen. Unlike today who make rapping noise who have gone back to the jungle in term,s of music. Who use blank blank every other word and call women bitches and so forth. That is not music but garbage

  • Thank you so much!!!!!

  • realmente es una chingonometria este grupo y esta canción. me encantan todavía.

  • Nice song...haha

  • Ultimate love song . . . 1967- still means the same thing.

  • The guy with the red bow tie is my Music Business professor at Belmont University

  • It has become popular in youtube comments to tell what song topped the billboard when they were born. This one is best happyland tune from the time of my birth. Pure vintage happyland from the music libraries of Marble Heaven.

  • @DarthFoxProductions i like the beatles but we all have diffrent oupinion

  • indeed the quailty is excellent, superb

i could go on and say how good this song is..but i dont have to.

  • Adaptation

  • Winter of 1967: i was in bed with the 'flu when this and Strawberry Fields Forever came out. They still sound great.

  • this vid has no sound?

  • it is weird to think a few years later Flo would be singing billy the mountain

  • NBA's big things are coming commercial theme. <3

  • I really love this song it reminds me of the comercial ads on tv.

  • i didnt know willi wonka sang this

  • well fuck me i did'nt know 2 jags fat bastard prescot was in the turtles

  • Who cares if their lip synching at least they still sound great to me,great performance, anyway ,love them.. get over your crap ,you really dont get it ..a fan always..

  • super playback !

  • seth from superbad on piano!

  • Pop/Rock doesn't get any better than this folks.

  • Very interesting the 60's, I'd really have lived at those times :)

  • @Hopffnung...except for Vietnam...

  • @ronetteloverz Yeah Vietnam, racism, no enough civil rights, 2 magnicides, Luther king assassinated , etc, etc.. what a lovely time to remember :)

  • @Hopffnung those times were pretty radical...some really tragic events came to pass, but also some truly amazing things too, a horrible war was ended,, and some incredible music was created.....it wasn't all bad by any means

  • @Hopffnung i wish i lived in that time

  • Lip synch at its best

  • @edwinf9999 I was thinking the same thing. On the one hand...I love watching these old variety hour shows and seeing the bands play...but on the other...I hate the fact the hollywood producers made them all lip-synch.

Now this was before my time (42) but did the average viewing public notice...or were we not sophisticated enough yet? LOL

  • Very beautiful melody.

  • What a sweet song!

  • Great shit man. Just the best. Love it and have done for a cazillion years. From the opld Aussie.

  • Flo and Eddie...Zappa Alumni!

  • Niceeeeeeeeee

  • I was 13 years old when this song came out.I couldn't wait to grow and leave home. Now 44 years later,"Happy Together" is still a great song.I miss the 60's and 70's.Russ

  • @doobiebro76 So so I Russ...Paul

  • @doobiebro76 hi how r u today?

  • @doobiebro76 Yea, good times. The music was great, the pot was weak, clothes were funny and we were becoming mired in Viet Nam and Nixon in the Oval office. The time sucked some too, I was happy, young and in love with a beautiful girl, and then, ended up with 18 months in Viet Nam. The one thing that kept me together during that time was the music. Yup, it says a lot for the artists of those days to have produced some of the best music EVER. IMHO, btw.

  • @Postie218 ,great times back in the 60's and 70's,I was in Okie (Japan) in May of 75 in the Marines. My wife is from Finland (been there 5 times) I've told her it was crazy here in the USA during 60's Viet Nam time, protesters and Nixon. If you have any issues at all, remember you can always go to the VA.One more thing,I always enjoyed smoking a doobie with "Dark Side of The Moon"( Pink Floyd ) on and with the head phones adjusted just right. My flight was great if you know what mean?

  • @485zombiestomp Yup, know well what your saying. My tour was "fairly" easy. Not really a combat tour, I spent most of my time at Da Nang, but it was tiring and it sucked the big one all of the time. My favorite "ride" was The Doors, "Weird Scenes Inside The Gold Mine". Any way, always good to chat with a fellow Vet. Cheers.

  • @doobiebro76 You legend!

  • the drummer looks like ringo starr

  • @MrTokyojoe150 He is :]

  • @Peukka7 ha i get it

  • Great song! :)

  • The two main men became the phlorescent leech and eddie in Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention - the mothers perform this live at fillmore east 1971

  • Stop worrying about the darn video. The song is all that matters and if you don't like it then LEAVE.

  • Didn't the spectators realized that theres no possibilty for the band to sing...theres no microphone?! The whole show is double tracking. What a shame.

  • Is that Mike Nesmith on guitar on the far right???

Flo and Eddie - gotta love 'em

  • He should have had a double-breasted suit to go with the high collar shirt & top-hat.

  • They started as the Crossfires and played the Revelair in Redondo Beach in the early sixty's.

Land of a Thousand Dances, Louie Louie and other classics of the day.

  • I love this song !!

  • I hate the fat one, trying to be funny... -.-

  • @TopGoldVideos And failing at it..

  • @codylittlestuff

    Yeah, thats pathetic

  • Love it!!!!!!

  • Willy Wonka ! ... just kiddin' , i love that song :D

  • jonah hill on keyboards

  • aaaaaaaa yeaaaaaa!

  • man, that drummer make all the difference,so light and smooth, today it would be some mechanical step...yes,we need that joint again, the whole thing

  • @GabrielDhalaman His name is John Barbata. Also played with Jefferson Airplane/Jefferson Starship and CSNY.

  • I Loved listening to this song all day. It made me feel nostalgic until I saw this video LEAD SINGER DRESSED LIKE DOCTOR DO LITTLE and really UGLY. Shame I wish I never looked at this video.

  • @powderbluetang321 That makes you a pretentious idiot. too bad.

  • @powderbluetang321 Idiot.

  • @powderbluetang321 Dumbass

  • @TheFabFour60 COCKSUCKER

  • Great song. Love the Turtles. Bizarre video ")

  • can't believe that this song came out that long ago! when i first heard it back when i was in elementary school, i thought it had come out when Shrek came out for the first time.

  • 4 people are not happy together

  • I wonder if Steve Moore got some of his visuals from this drummer

  • the singer reminds me of Javier Barden in No Country for Old Men..! :D :D

  • M0:00R!

  • He reminds me of a Muppet

  • this is not live. There is no microphones.

  • he has the most wonderful singing voice...very soothing...

  • sounds just like the album , 'cough'

  • I notice that there is not a microphone in sight.

  • hey... my gf told me about this song and then she broke up with me ...... COME ON!!!

  • When the 2 singers joined Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention as Flo & Eddie, a band I was in opened for them in Orlando. That was an intense change from their early days. Where are they (Flo & Eddie) now?

  • hmmm ..... big audience that night!

  • He even looks like a turtle...

  • This just makes me smile.

  • From what I understand, this will be one of Jim Tuckers last performances with the band, He will quit the band and music all together after being publicly insulted by John Lennon while on a promo tour in England...I guess being told by a Beatle you cant play guitar messed his mind up....

  • More music from the soundtrack of my life. It was great coming of age during that time. I love this song. I have such great memories of that time. YES, I do remember back then. Ha, Ha.

  • @beanerboyd Good post -sound tracks of your life ,how true.

  • i like Turtles.

  • @bunniesinthebank am i turtle enough for the turtle club?

  • dont worry its great love it

  • Mark & Howard were also the backing vocals on T.Rex, among others, Electric Warrior...I saw these guys a few years back, gotta be near '70 now, STILL singing their asses off, hitting the notes...they did Turtles, Flo & Eddies, and a few Zappa numbers...attention, young people...these guys were brilliant, talented, and VERY "tongue in cheek"...the old people didn't get that, the young people did...it's called SUBVERSION...: ) @ hellomonkey...a picture is worth a thousand words...

  • Comment removed

  • I get 480 p and it looks great

  • The difference between music then and now is that musicians had real talent and real vocal capabilities, "harmony" and todays "artists" like Bieber, Gaga, Spears DONT!

  • Singer kinda looks like John Prescott!

  • Nice video quality...too bad it was lip syched.

  • did you see the drummer back there ? 1:32 to 1:42 nice!

  • Love you , Kenny! 8th grade (1968) - I'll always remember putting that note in your locker- LOL :)

  • Gee,, dumb bow tie, versus what?,, baggin' and saggin' drawers?,, not really a tough call

  • Flo and Eddie!

  • For those who didn't live through this, Howard Kaylan (lead vocal) and Mark Volman (piano, back up vocal) went on after this to join Frank Zappa's Mothers of invention, then reinvented themselves as The Fluorescent Flo & Eddie. Cool stuff. Drummer Johnny Barbatta replaced Spencer Dryden in Jefferson Airplane.

  • This is my FAV song of all time! Kenny Downing and me in 8th grade! LOVE IT!!

  • hahaha Playback =D

  • brilliant perhaps we should compose songs like this agiain ?

  • Smothers snitched on Deniro.

  • seth from superbad lol

  • dont you think the drummer looks a bit or acts a bit like Ringo haha

  • Look. This was a great pop song, no doubt. But what really knocks you out is to put in the search box "Centerville 200 Motels" and watch these guys HAM IT UP in a Frank Zappa video. I mean really. A VIDEO that was converted to film and released that way. I guess it was the easiest way to get the psychedelic effects at the time. Yeah, this is a classic.

  • Only 100,000 stares!.. come on folks this historic piece of music deserves more of your time?.

  • @Terrilliser At least those people who look at it know their music, except th three dorks who gave it a Thumbs Down.

  • its among the best 100 songs of all time. according to billboard...

  • IS THAT JONAH HILL?!

  • @Pijus1991 I think it was a problem with the flash player after installing an old version of Creative Suite.

  • Wow, this video and song brings back a fun summer memory for my mom and me :) Thanks for posting! And in such perfect quality too! :D

  • The guy at the beginning should get an award.

"one of the fastest moving groups: the Turtles"

    Love the song.

Anyone else think of Spider Pig during the chorus?

  • @YaroslavtheAwesome "The guy at the beginning" is none other than Tommy Smothers of "The Smothers Brothers." You can watch many clips from their 1960s TV show on YouTube.

  • They were fasting moving indeed... one hit wonder? Great song, though

  • i was in 4th grade when this came out. Me, Pat Guthrie and Fernado Famania got up and sang this to our class one day. Pat played the "electric guitar." We were like rock stars for about a week afterwards. I can never hear this on the radio without thinking of that day and guys coming up and asking "Can we be in your band?" Ahhhh SHOWBIZ!

  • I thought this was excellent quality. It seems the maximum resolution I can get is 240, the minimum. I like the song, but quit the false advertising.

  • @johnnystaccata Read my quality scale.

  • @johnnystaccata that's strange, i can get 480 resolution :)

  • @johnnystaccata strange, when I view it I have the maximum resolution choice of 480.

  • @rethman1 It was a problem with the flash player. I installed an older version of Creative Suite and it changed the version of Flashplayer to an older version.

  • @johnnystaccata

who gives a shit! you dont need the video anyways. its music! if you really NEED good quality then buy the album and support the record company.

  • @johnnystaccata Either it's your computer or you're a very young dude used to seeing everything in today's HD. Do you realize this video is from 1967 TV? No false advertising on SixtiesPopGold's part whatsoever. The video IS excellent quality for its time, had to be restored to GET it to this quality. Check out other 60's videos and you'll understand. My hat's off to you SixtiesPopGold. EXCELLENT quality!

  • @jackalbill Thanks! It's also uploaded from an official DVD, so I guess Rhino used the master tapes.

  • @johnnystaccata i get 480p 0n my pimped dell optiplex 740

  • @johnnystaccata Stop criticizing quality. You missed the fact they are snappy dressers and even better musicians :)

  • @johnnystaccata Don't know what your problem is, but I got it in 480

  • @johnnystaccata this is pretty good quality especially for a 1967 video i don't know what your on

  • @smashinglollipops I had a problem with flash player. I installed Adobe CS3 and it downgraded my flash player.

  • @johnnystaccata oh.. what kind of computer you have?
