It's from the 1967 BBC televison version of Wuthering Heights - Ian McShane played Heathcliff (perfect role for him) and Angela Scoular played Cathy. Unfortunately, it is not available on video or DVD (hopefully someday it will be).
Gorgeous! It sort of sounds like Claire de Lune. Even though I've only seen the (1939) movie once, I'm in love with the story. Is that the real "Wuthering Heights" from the movie around :20?
Timothy Dalton and Laurence Olivier resemble each other quite closely. I loved both their equally strong performances as Heathcliffe; although the Dalton film was probably more closer to the book
Yes indeed, they are both Shakespeare actors and have almost the same voice.Still of character they are totally different. He later restored the theater that onces belonged to Olivier and has a lot of admiration for this actor.
This is so lovely! I love the symphony's interpretation of the theme! Would you be so kind as to possibly upload the song, please? I would very much love to have it, if that isn't too much work.
Timothy Dalto was Heathcliff in the 1970 version (with Anna Calder-Marshall as Cathy). Ralph Fiennes was Heathcliff alongside Juliette Binoche's Cathy in "Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights" (1992). My personal fave is the Timothy Dalton version, but all the ones I have seen are good in different ways.
Juliette Binoche in the 1992 film, Anna Caulder-Marshall in the 1970 version, and Orla Brady in the 1998 Masterpiece Theatre presentation. As for the 1939 movie, Vivien Leigh had wanted the role, but she was turned down. Of course, she started shooting GWTW not long after.
I saw both of them... with Laurence Olivier and Timothy Dalton, I agree, Timothy is so closer to the book. He is perfect as Heathcliffe.

It never fails...I cry every time I hear this sound. I LOVE Oberon/Olivier duo original, nothing else.

Alfred Newman's 1939 soundtrack is the most magnificent and evocative movie soundtrack in the entire history of film.

Try Ebay - sometimes they do get recorded versions of movies on DVD or VHS.

Al Swearengen. He looks gorgeous there. I'd be interested to see him in WH. Too bad it's not available.

It was neat of you to make this with the theme from the original "Wuthering Heights" and very beautiful.
