  • @jporcel100 Hey, what's with the shity comments?

  • Drafted in 67 , sent to germany , volunteered for nam to get out of germany (florida boy) . served in chu lai , americal 196th light inf . I was highly motivated . This is my weapon , this is my gun................

  • @MrGrouchy77 Welcome home brother, 196th great unit. Florida myself after defecting from California. Wolfie

  • What a terrible War, The US lost 50,000+ men in this War... Just death, blood and destruction and also 2 million civilians killed in this War and for what? Because the US government didnt like the other countries polotical system? They are doing the same now in Iraq and Afghanistan but this time calling them "terrorists".

  • @lSaif Don't agree, In 1964 war started, it had not been long since WWII. We and other countries had been attacked due political motives by German & Japan who attacked neighbors and other countries. When you experience wars like that you don't wait to get attacked again. We were attacked on 9/11 by terrorists out of Afghanistan, what do you call murderers that kill innocent women, men and children in NY? After that happened we decided to go after the cowards. Wolfie

  • man.... i always wonder what it woulda been like back then. thanks for giving us an insight

  • much respect to those who fight for their country. the courage to stare death in the face and attack it with your very soul. I only wish I had the opportunity to do so. I have this saying "I am willing to die to survive" but it's just a saying you guys lived those words.

  • I remember walking by that church. But I didn't know it was so close to the road. seems in your video clip that there are more hooches in the area than I remember. I pulled guard one night on the high peak at LZ Liz and got to fire a 106mm recoiless that was mounted on a jeep. We did a lot of patrols off LZ Liz and walked a lot of miles in the area. We humped over those mountains to the Song Ve River. I almost drowned in a deep hole when we were crossing under fire with a M60 on my shoulder.

  • @crumeny Yes, it was pretty close. If you look at some more videos you will see the same church in 1967, thanks to a buddy that was there then. Interesting to see the road and other changes from 1967 to 1971. I need to edit a video of 1967 Liz area to 1971. Thanks for posting, Wolfie

  • Jan 68 to Dec 68

  • wolfie, thanks so much for your fore sight. boss 2nd plt E troop

  • great vdo, what's with the horrible music??

  • @khundick I kind of like it, got a good beat. My music choices are limited due to YouTube copyright rules. Would rather have Steppenwolf Born to Be Wild. Wolfie

  • @WolfieRed1 It's VEVO that removes our song choices, one day everyone will revolt against the rules and we'll get to put the songs we like into our videos! Just asking, You were in the Army right?

  • Really good. Thanks. Often wondered what some of those places look like today.

  • A deeply felt thank you to all of you for your service and your sacrifices.

  • I would like to honor Corporal John Harrison of the British Armed Forces Parachute Regiment who gave his life freeing Stephen Farrell, a reporter with the New York Times in a daring pre-dawn operation on Wednesday. Corporal Harrison demonstrated courage and professionalism in the highest traditions of the British Military. As an American Combat Veteran we Americans have lost a Brother and extend our gratitude, prayers and tears to his family and friends. I salute you Corporal John Harrison.

  • I was the PRU/ Phoenix advisor in Mo Duc from Nov '68 til summer of '69. Worked from both firebases as well as a ton of work with the recon guys...big blonde kid on his 3rd tour. My merc and I lived in MoDuc and often joined you in the field when you were in MoDuc district AOs. Middle of Nov. I stepped on a can of explosive with a fuse that didn't detonate, while walking point for one of your platoons....anyone remember a very lucky and stupid young 1st LT who thought he was john Wayne?

  • Thanks for posting. You obviously will see a lot of familiar sites. How could anyone forget the bombed out church. Your job was pretty interesting, had a HS buddy that was in SOG accross the DMZ to help out pilots shot down and other stuff. You obviously know the other stuff. We worked with Phoenix guys while at OP Frag, its the diamond shaped OP seen from my helicopter videos. I misnamed Bronco (had a brain f a r t).Glad we're back, was at wall last week. Cried a lot for old friends.

  • bronco, thunder 68-69.....attached to company C of 26th combat engineers..i couldn't say much for the location, but the people were the best.

  • My father was there (SGT Michael Henderson). He was w/Delta company 1/20, 11th LIB from 1969-1970. He always spoke of his best friend who was KIA SGT Glenn Brewster

  • Have you been to the D 1/20 site. Got lots of info and history. Thanks for posting.

  • Thanks. I was there in June 1970 as a reporter. There and FB San Juan Hill--just out of Bronco!

  • Did you take my picture? We were young once.....

  • Great video Wolfie! Don't know how I missed this one.

  • Great video. I was with Americal 196th LIB. There 68 - 69 off LZ Center AO. I Remember the shit burning detail! We all had to do it

at sometime. I knew a dummie that put gas on it instead od diesel fuel. He blew his self up.How embarrassing 4 him!!!

  • Hello! I would imagine you rode on a few "Dolphin" ships along with the "Rattlers" eh? I'm damn proud of MY Vietnam Vets, be they Army Aviators or the Grunts they hauled. May God bless you all to a man, and a lady... Hat's off to the nurses at Charlie Med, too... "All gave some, some gave all".

  • My dad, Richard Lynn Gray was with the 11th Americal LIB B Co. 1/20th. From April 68 till Oct 68, when he hit a land mine and lost both legs. I've just been trying to find people from his service, so Im just throwing this out there. By the way, thank you for your service and our freedoms. It really means a lot to me. You deserve the welcome home that you were never given...so I say, welcome home. God bless.

  • Sorry it took me so long to respond, hug your dad for me. He will recognize the sites in my video. I took these in 1971, I was in D 1/20. Thanks for respecting the sacrifice your dad and others made. Wolfie

  • @rmgardner46

Hey gardner, "Cacti Forever"...... Cacti Blue

  • Thanks for sharing the vids, wolfie...i arrived at Liz in april of 71 after spending previous months with E co. 2/7 1st cavalry division with a recon platoon. Was on Liz as mortar gunner and then as computer for FDC. Left Liz in the fall as "jump cps" were institued going to various locations to provide fire support. First time to see anything about Liz ...and as you said...brings back memories..some good..some not so good...thanks again!!

  • April 71, bet we crossed paths many times, waved at each other, but never knew each other? Now we do, did you see the Liz Shitter, Where is It Now?

Most people don't understand that we only saw a shitter once a month. I had malaria, got dusted off to ChuLai, the nurse came into the bathroom and found me flushing the toilet. What the F__k are you doing? Told her hadn't seen a toilet in months, love watching to flush. Only a grunt would appreciate the moment? Thanks new friend.

  • yep....surely did see the shitter..one of the not so good memories being as the mortar folk had responsibility of dragging those half 55 gal drums out with a 10' hoe handle...pouring in diesel and few packs o' cheese charges from mortar rounds to burn 'em out....also noticed the ol' shower shack...darn...a shower never felt so good....hope to share more memories as they pop up...thanks for taking the time to reply...take good care

  • rtcee, just realized that was the shower I was calling the shitter. When I looked at the picture again I realized the shitters didn't look that good. LOL. I don't think the grunts had access to the shower, or maybe we had forgotten how to use one? Thanks for serving and posting. My new friend.

  • Hey your posts are great. Keep them coming. Online libraries like this are where history will be recorded in the future.

  • Great pictures and videos! Thanks for the memories D 1/20th '69 - '70.

  • What unit? What year? Thanks for serving. Did any of the aviation guys support you?

  • outstanding video i stayed at L.Z.center when i was not out in the bush

  • Ah, I found you Wizart49, great video you posted. Wolfie
