America Red and Blue debuted together because they though that blue is a better opposite of red then green. So when Japan decided to remake Red and Green Nintendo of America realized there mistake and decided not to change the name this time around. So Green is officially the boy.

@naruto11143 That's relative. In the japanese version of 1st gen games (as in Pokemon Adventures Manga) Red's rival is called Green, not Blue. When Pokemon Red and Green arrived to USA , the rival's name was changed to Blue and the girl's called Green.

And because this is a japanese video, I call him Green :)
