Not to mock the suffering of thousands, but the japan earthquake would have been a very shitty act of God. If God wished to punish the world's most secular country, he would have done something TRULY supernatural like annihilate it or done something that laid waste to the skyscrapers designed to resist earthquakes. Going one better, if he'd reduced all but the Western part, the most christian part, of the country to rubble that would have been an interesting discussion point...at best.

@3Triskellion3 What's more, when the human body's subjected to low frequency sounds (below the human detection threshold) it perceives them as "ghostly apparitions" out of the corner of one's eye, etc. It's not ghosts- it's the human body interpreting stimuli it's not accustomed to: Look up Vic Tandy, Ghost in the Machine.

To be fair, theories are never proven, but they can be disproved. This is why Newton's theories of motion have been supplanted by Einstein's General Theory of Relativity. We still use Newton's work because it's simpler to work with, and for everyday problems it's more than adequate. It fails, however, when trying to describe the incredibly large or incredibly fast.
The fact theories are never proven is a good thing, as it allows science to continually refine and improve itself.

I'm so glad that I'm shielded from this here in Japan... In fact I'm glad I'm shielded from most all religious extremism here in Japan... If I was sitting with my dad (Who went all fundy on me) he would probably have been all "YEAH!!!" And promptly been punched in the face...

Not to mock the suffering of thousands, but the japan earthquake would have been a very shitty act of God. If God wished to punish the world's most secular country, he would have done something TRULY supernatural like annihilate it or done something that laid waste to the skyscrapers designed to resist earthquakes. Going one better, if he'd reduced all but the Western part, the most christian part, of the country to rubble that would have been an interesting discussion point...at best.

@NativeAlternative Oh and when I've used these arguements against bat shit crazy christians who take pride in thinking their God killed thousands of innocent people, their response is that he only wanted to warn the Japanese of their fate to come should they not worship him...which is why when I ask why those people who were secular before still are they respond that they haven't heeded the warning and their doom is to follow. I think God's omipotence needs a bit of re-evaluating in that case.
