Trumpeters, beware, not too much energy in certain parts. And for the whole team, listen to the beats and keep your balancing. Make sure you can hear the music around you, and then blend in. Btw, don't take these negative comments wrongly. I'm sure they're giving out those opinions only because they love your work and wanting more. So give it out to them guys! And one more thing, enjoy your own performance. That's one way to loosen up a bit. Good luck, boys!

PS: Saya harap you don't take all these things personally, saya cuma nak tengok team koleq berjaya or at least feel justified during the finals. OTOH you have the disadvantage of a lot of people already hearing this piece at least four times, and this piece itself has a 'legendary' status in this circuit. So I just hope you knock that ball out of the park and not sprain your ankles doing so. Good luck and god bless.

As opera singers say, toi toi. To the conductor: I love your energy and enthusiasm, but you must remember this is not about "you", this is about "Jacob de Haan's Ross Roy". So justify your gestures. If you're making sweeping gestures for crescendo and your people are not exactly crescendoing, it will look so. damn. awkward. So convene with your people and reach a decision. I know there's a conductor award and everything, but you must serve the music first. Tip: watch clips of Claudio Abbado.

At the end of the day saya rasa cuma masalah nerves saja. Lagu ni pun I think dah dua tiga kali koleq main for this venue. Saya antara generation yang tak sempat main this piece, heheh I'm so old. My tip: just forget about the judges, play it as if you're playing it to your parents. Imagine your parents are the only ones sitting in the hall listening to you. And bring them to tears with your music. And LOOK AT THE CONDUCTOR. You put that guy up there because you trust him, so do that!

Kepada para trumpeters, you are the loudest thing on the stage so articulation-wise they're going to listen to you first. Please don't ruin other people's hard work. If it's legato play it legato, if it's sforz/accented play it accented. Also, if it's muted don't blow so much air. The point of muting (in this case) is to obtain that 'cupo' tone colour. You will be heard, don't worry, just play it softly.

About the dynamics, I suggest the 'Beverly Sills' Norma' method: play everything else soft and blast out during the fortes and fortissimos. It's a very valid and musical approach. Tapi play soft jangan tak bagi support pulak, keep the air flowing. Baiki lagi crescendo-decrescendo (terutamanya crescendo, there's more of that shit in this piece).

Saya sangat suka tone korang, especially the winds. Rasanya sempat tak nak bg advice? Solo saxophone I love your tone, but you should play it like how you would sing it. I don't care if you squeak, but you have to play it like you mean it. You are the whole point of this song, after all. My tip: anytime you don't have anything to do hum the phrases. Mr. de Haan called this solo 'Love, Friendship, and Understanding', so you should think about those things and incorporate it into your playing.

aku rase mmg ade lg kelemahan band nie.dari segi dynamic ,feel, and ketepatan yg boleh di baiki lg.tp aku rase sound and intonation dah ok but can always be improve further.plus,ini lagu english je.mungkin lagi melayu is much better and tlg diorang masuk final.anyway,aku rase xde msalah mengkritik dari segi music sbb kritikan boleh membantu untuk improve.tp kalau kalau cakap ini xlayak masuk final sume mcm xperlu pulak.kalau nak pertikaikan result pun bukan kite pun yg judge comp nanti.setuju?

@akunakbalik123 saya setuju dengan komen anda. rasanya kekuatan koleq, MAYBE yang melayakkan dorang masuk final is the quality of the tone, balancing and intonation. kat sini strong point dorang. tapi, kelemahan dari segi dynamics and articulation, bagi aku lar, sangat2 tak boleh dimaafkan for this song. coz kekuatan lagu nie terletak pada dynamics and articulation dia. so, bila maen volume slow, seolah2 play safe, bunyi yang diproduce tak strong and bunyi malas. just sayin'. :)

i loved this piece when SAS brought it to woc tahun berapa aku tak ingat. and it was so strong, solid and fascinating performance. sampai kat hostel dok berkhayal conduct sorang2. was a bit of a psycho! anyway, my comment on this, it was rather weak, at the beginning..sound was beautiful, but the strength, the power just wasn't there. so i guess, work more on sound projection..you'll do great! Good luck MCKK, bring it on! - im not a music expert, it's just my auditory perception-

in my opinion,diorang main x la teruk mana.just,lagu ni lagu biasa.maybe takdela sehebat lagu2 finalist lain.kalau nak tngok dri aspect lain,trumpet boleh tahan 'clean'.section lower brass,mantap gak .there're minor2 things yg boleh improve more.trumpet n trombone takyah gerak lebih2.0:57-1:10.plus conductor,i dont think u need that extra movement.ape2 pun,surely the judges have their own reasons to pick this band as one of the finalists.so..KEPUTUSAN HAKIM ADALAH MUKTAMAD.peace ^^
