  • Oh, people benefit from photoshopping alright - the repulsive companies that do it. They are raking in millions by making people feel like they aren't good enough.

  • Great movie by Dove.

For those of you who doesn't know, this was the first ever "viral" to win the "film" prize in Cannes, one of the most important ones.

I personally believe it was well deserved, it's stupid to try to be perfect.

  • So almost anyone can be a photo model then huh?

  • Comment removed

  • It's creepy!!

  • @34099832 I completely agree!!!!!!

  • exactly what i mean false advertising!!!! girls think they have to look like this!!!! be the perfect size have the perfect look. to be perfect in looks is being absolutely 100% fake!!! to me everyone isnt perfect except God.

  • Interesting to see that Dove are still working with Ogilvy (in Toronto).

In the 50s (I think) David Oglivy created a very successful campaign with a photo of a woman in a bath holding a bar of soap in one hand and a phone in the other.

The headline was, “Darling, I’m having the most extraordinary experience…I’m head over heels in DOVE!

Corny but research had show that the word ‘darling’ came top when generating emotional impact.

Clearly, ’darling’ is a good buzz word.

  • Do we like this because it's the truth of beauty being fake? or because it's fake being beauty? O_O

  • how can women aspire to something that doesnt exist? what is on that billboard is manufactured. its not natural. women are just not created to be perfect. this video shows that.

  • ur scheiß video hahaha weib glaubt es is schön ^^

    Langer stinkt...........

  • movie is total shit omG watching from school with gay teatcher....

hahahahah shit movie drecks hurn video

  • please can someone tell me the songs name?

    thax i apreciate it =)

  • Passage D- The Flashbulb

  • she looks like a stressed out soccer mom before the makeover.

  • Makes me sad to know this is where my career is leading me to.....

  • i think this is a little exagerated, without all the editing she still isn't as hot as an 'unedited' supermodel

  • excuse me, there is no such thing as an "unedited" supermodel. That's the whole point. Which apparently flew right over your head.

  • whatever

  • Oh. My. God.

  • Wow. I knew a lot was edited; just not this much.

    ~Libby

  • she looks ugly before the whole makeover lmao

  • @goalyssago Lmfao. You're ugly anyways, I wouldn't be talking.

  • At least i don't look like a fat ass kelly osbourne, and i don't have a pig nose. You were probably making out with your boyfriends ASS, and he was the first person to get the swine flu.

    :)

  • That wasn't offensive, I don't know who you are. I don't care who you are. You're just a jealous little fatass bitch. (:

  • Oh im JEALOUS??

    hahahaha!

your right. I think im gonna go get a nose job now. I wanna look like two pigs fucked and made me.

    haha, no thanks. :)

  • Hey, at least my nose doesn't look like my grandfather's penis, like yours(:

  • Of course you would know what your grandfathers penis looks like, he pays you to give him blowjobs. hahaha

  • Haha, that was so funny. I'm actually being honest. Everything you say is hilariously unoffensive. Dumbass cunt.

  • omg... awesomw!! lol

  • O.O....wow..

  • it's like she doesn't even look like a real person on the billboard....

  • Although it's a good ad, it's just ironic that the Ad is made by Dove, who is owned by Unilever who make - yep, you guessed it - Beauty products, while this ad shows the deception of the media when it comes to stuff like this, this ad itself is just as deceiving.

  • WOW

  • nice... i wanna take photoshop on a date, i guess

    ~BMW art car

  • thats rite........imperfectness is wat makes us sexy

  • She was pretty to start with, gorgeous with her make-up on, and then . . . Fake.

  • Incrível esse vídeo! Muito show!

  • Hi! for school I am doing a project on False Body Images, like shown in this video. I have four questions

    1. Why are false body images portrayed by the media?

    2. How does false body images affect teenagers?

    3. Who do teens look to for the perfect body image?

    4. What can teens do about false body image?

If anyone could answer these that would be wonderful!!! and much appreciated!!

    Thanks

  • Comment removed

  • 1. people like the attractive look, if someone ugly was trying to sell a product , it wouldn't really sell.

    2. false body creates pressure on teens, which makes them feel they need to change.

    3. teens look to different people, either models, or just anyone they think is pretty.

    4. teens can really do nothing but help themselves, it's hart to hold yourself from feeling pressured to change

  • The picture was pretty before they photoshopped it and so was the girl.

TBH, no one really benefits from photoshopping. The public get depressed, the models feel like crap because they think they're not pretty enough on their own, and people start to develop eating disorders.

And yet we still do it.

  • I know.. it made her look naturalé

    :)

  • What music piece is that they play?

  • This is nice but I'm pretty sure Dove photoshops their models too.

  • that is totally awsome!!

    but sad

  • I know! its interesting how they can distort minds and bodys. But its sad how people think that being fake is beautiful. ppl need to face that they can NEVER be that way. Because that kind of "beauty" is impossible. (unless you spend thousands of dollars on surgery)

And then ppl that do know that its impossible feel sad because they think that thats what beauty is and that they can never be that way. :( Even though it was not even real the whole time....

    its so sad.

  • > unless you spend thousands of dollars on surgery

    Usually not even then.

  • Thank you for showing this, I'm in the entertainment business and it is SOOO True!!!! Even a pretty girl like me feels not so pretty when she compares herself to the flawless beauties in the magazines and on TV however I am beginning to see that most of them are not flawless, some are but most are not and that is refreshing!!! What would be great is if women didn't have to be a size 2 to be considered HOT, if we could be a 4 or 6 and be a HOT babe, that would be great!

  • i find 4-6 sexy ;P

  • This is sad, the girl was really pretty to begin with such a shame ; what our world has turned into

  • why buy beatiful clothes if your still going to fell ugly on the inside

  • thank you for this video miss ledo!

shows how fake all this advertisement crap is

and i'm going to have to say thanks again

  • I've seen this a dozen times over and I've said the same thing everytime: This is an excellent example of how people are so misled my advertisers. I have done some model photography (not for commercial use) and this kind of alteration of a naturally lovely lady is ridiculous. No blemishes, no freckles, no nothing. Just a phony image on a billboard. And women who I don't think (in only my opinion) are as attractive don't need this garbage either. Excellent video.

  • OMG, that's bananas!

  • Every beauty advertisement is airbrushed, they all have flawless skin. its rediculous. I one saw an adver for mascara, and at the bottom in small print it said that the model was wearing eyelash extentions!

  • hey does anyone know the name and artist of the song used in this video?

  • she s already beautiful. simple n pretty stupid ad'ers

  • she was "pretty", but the companies wanted her to be "super hot" for advertisements. this is wrong

  • ther r some crazy people out ther man. i dont see why they do that 2 themselves.she was pretty before

  • So many women are in psyco-therapy or depressed or divorcing or taking chemical anti-depressants because they feel unloved and unfulfilled because of body image issues.

We are becoming a society of mutants-- mutating away from our natural human personalities. We are judgemental. We are all trying to "sell" something. Lets go back to nature. Teach our children...

  • why did she do that? she was pretty before

  • totaly agree with u. ther r some crazy people out ther man. i dont see why they do that 2 themselves

  • That was crazy!

  • und was sagt uns das?jeder kann ein modell sein.ist es nicht schon kunst, denn menschen so zu gestalten?

  • すげえ

  • It goes to show what we really value in society, pretty disgusting really, but they are giving the viewers what they would like to see, after all they do market research, but whether this is right or not is a whole other barrel of fish.

  • North Americans are way too obsessed with perfection and can't accept the fact that it's natural to grow old. I really think she looked better at the start! Plastic surgery should be banned too...

  • I'm not lying Stakker. It's called an opinion! So are you saying everyone should plasticise themselves to "please others"? So what if it is marketing, it's better than saying "look how pretty this girl is haha you're not like that"! I think you're the one that's going blind if you lust over barbies!

  • Typical response. Yawn.

  • la verdad es que la mayoria de los rostros que vemos en las revistas son falsos los prototipos de belleza que seguimos ni si quiera existen son una fantasía hecha con photoshop

  • its so true

  • Not better either.

  • The makeup was ok, but the photoshop endproduct looks like Cher after another operation.

  • personally i think she looked 50 times better at the start. it's sad really its f****ing up society do you have any idea have many girls spiral into depression or even resort to suicide cuz of crap like this. So many lives are ruined because of this crap.

  • Hmm. That's the problem with women, isn't it? We always need to be "improved".

    Disgusting.

  • what is the name of the song?

  • The Flashbulb's "Passage D". you can download with limewire , emule...

  • thanks!

  • wow thanks sooooooooo much!

  • what is the name of the song?

  • Check our parody also!

  • evolution? i think its destruction of beauty..

  • lol!! ur right!! man, that's all i say. :(

  • I agree.

  • @oguzjhan True, but it can also be considered creation of another form of beauty.

  • Excelente crítica. Muito bom mesmo!

  • dove tests on animals :)

    just so you kiddies know

  • hahaha

  • lol! ur righT!

  • Animesama & candyomelet:

talk about a distorted perception of beauty oO I'm glad I don't have to live up to your standards

  • I didn't think she was that bad... Oo that's a really nice computer program.. i wish I had it and the skills to edit my photos...

  • Everyone, please overlook/maintain naivete about the fact that dove is owned by the parent company (Unilever) that owns Axe deodorant.

They're playing us consumers on both ends to make a little coin. But please, stay ignorant so they can maximize their money off us.

  • Beauty is all in the mind. A truly beautiful woman is one who can integrate discrete polynomials, do vector sums in her head, or explain the fundamental principles of astrophysics. Otherwise, only 2% of your genome differs from that of a chimpanzee.

  • Yuup... thats about the bottom of it... "wow"

  • Wow.

  • Wow! Thats a big change

  • Hey, this is the kind of stuff I've been trying to tell my friends who think they're "ugly." And this just proves my point... And then some.

  • Makeup is a girl's best friend then diamonds in my opinion.

  • The background music really sounds like Passage D by the flashbulb....

  • Just goes to show how ugly women can pick up. Next time you are checking out some stuck up chick who thinks she's hot just remember how long it took her to leave the house. Thank god i'm male and don't have to wear a mask every day. She know's she's ugly underneath.

  • How beautiful the fact that we can takes these mere bodies and make them something truly great... not to be "natural" or to be "pollitically correct" but simply stated... absolutely perfect.

  • This video just goes to show how false and plastic our society has become when it takes a computer program and a team of make up technicians to make a pretty face. What ever happened to NATURAL beauty

  • SO COOL

    YET SO TRUE

  • Ego...

  • The magic of makeup and computers

  • Actually, in their "making of" vid, the process of the photo shoot and the makeup application took approximately three hours and was made to be as real to the actual glamour shoots as possible. It was shot in fast motion, that's all. It's not a cartoon.

  • lol it is not a cartoon. it's playing in fast motion that's why everything is moving so fast. it's all real just sped up.

  • They look like they care how we look but they just want us to buy the product

  • yer... this is a real prblem in socitety, making people (mainy girls)feel ugly, wehn seeing someone as hot as that, when in fact its not even real to begin with.

close your eyes, and love who u r.

  • BUT she looked pretty in the beginning*

this still doesn't prove anything...make up and all that shit can't change the way an ugly person looks you have to be pretty to start with

  • Err... Look good at what they did with the photoshop :

-enhance the eyes (they're a lot bigger than possible)

    - lift up the head (a neck that long is very rare)

    - change the form of the face completely

    - stretch the hair

    - ...

The picture you get in the end is a drawing. Nobody is looking like that. These proportions are what is used in comic strips, they don't appear in real life. Trick is to do it in such a way people don't realize.

  • bug...she looked pretty in the beginning anyway.

  • I love this

  • i need someone who make something with a picture in photoshop please add me if you have.. 290362016

ich brauch jemanden der mir bei photoshop ein bild verändert addet mich bitte wenn ihrs habt.. 290362016

  • I find it funny how they take a woman who doesn't fit the mold for the same shows that are done in full public view, and try to brainwash you into thinking stereotypically beautiful women don't exist. Might as well say that there's no such thing as nature Double D Breasts or Men packing ten whole inches.

  • Spitzenmodel Gloria führt zur Zeit ein unstetes Leben zwischen Paris, Mailand und New York.

    Hallo Alex!

  • i love this...check out the latest video from dove....type in dove hair...its cool!

  • @sovsel

not related to the video but that golden ratio stuff is just shit. It says your ass is supposed 1.618 times as wide as your waist? and all this shit about your eyes being a 1.618 times as wide as it is high. wtf? bs, more bs.

  • ti usually dont do this but im an artist i specialize in portraits, we have known for a while that these images are face due to proportion of the eyes and position of course the skull structure plays a difference but many pictures have been touched up

  • BURN THE BILLBOARDS

  • Czy ktoś mi może powiedzieć co to za piosenka?

  • wie hübsch die aufeinma is

  • wow

  • This isn't really a commentary on beauty so much as it is a commentary on advertising. It takes you through the story of how an advertisement is made, and in doing so, makes that advertisement. It targets Dove's audience, the two young girls who walk beneath the billboard at the end, and delivers the message: "Dove can teach you about beauty."

  • bravo for ogilvy.. isnt it that they ve got the highest pay gap levels in the world..?? (ive read about it either in NYTimes or Wash post) great profeminine image!!! please make us believe that commercial is nothing but a bulshit! more prizes for them;-)

  • It is not "distorted" just because you are not beautiful. Is our perception of strength also "distorted" just because you are not strong? Or is it that you are bitter and jealous, and the feminists give you every excuse and all the language distortions you need to fan that jealousy and pretend that it is something else? Hm.

  • Beauty is both subjective (in the eyes of the beholder) and objective measured by a number (the golden ratio 1=1.618).

But what the media does is create an illusion which is unrealistic and unattainable. Take your argument about strength - strength is relative. If a new higher average of strenght is established/measured - however unrealistic it may be - then you are no longer strong. How long is six inches?

  • And Im not bitter and jealous. I rate my looks - and they are real. Im just aware of the illusions, of unrealistic standards and expectations that are being created. That is what the add is doing. And what is wrong with that?

  • whoa, great concept "no wonder our perception of beauty is distorted".

sometimes you can make out those fake magazine covers, where they show you some popular actress, that you've seen in "real live action" (manipulated as well, but nonetheless) and they seem like a totally different person...

  • And this is what we want to look like today... all fake.

  • Great video, and meaning. Was it photoshop? Sure? -_-

  • I love this reclam :) It shows very good how fake some things are! :o

  • ill !

  • awesome

  • wow...thats crazy what photoshop can do

  • Great vid. Damn, what Photoshop can do to a human face!

  • but the person you are looking at does not exist

  • Classic

  • soundtrack ???????!!!!!

  • i think she looks really pretty in the end ... better than when she started off

  • i find it kinda scary how modern technology can change the way you look to the extreme

  • The model looks good with no makeup. She looks even better with the great hairdo (but she has too much makeup at the same time). I have nothing against using photoshop or makeup to remove a zit or a stray hair, but redoing the face on the computer turns the photo into a illustration, and I am glad that people can see it for what it is: fiction.

  • <3 so true

  • this is such a cool add

  • The showed my Graphic Design class this clip

  • this woman is extremely attractive without makeup and everything. I don't like what they did to her in photoshop, she looks better than what they did to her in the program. She's very pretty as is.

  • I love Oglvy, hate Mather.

  • it is unbelievable

  • I luv this ad it relle makes people think...

  • people are so maen

  • that's why so many teenage girls fall into depression when they see all those perfect beauties in magazines! grrrrrr...

  • Nice

  • WOOOOW

  • if only you can do this to real women, with just a click of the fingers they sudenly become hot haha XD

  • It's NOT an exposé! Dove's been Olgivy's client since the '50s.

The ad was created for their "Real Beauty" campaign.

Real fashion ad agencies don't modify models' faces like that.-they don't have to!

(Exotic looking models really do exist) They animated the whole ad. That wasn't even Photoshop™, just a look-a-like. Even the finished billboard at the end is digital composite! It's not "crazy", Dove IS "massive" that's why they're making a P.C. effort. It's all marketing. Never assume

  • Yes, exotic looking models do exist, but they do 'modify' their faces anyway. It happens all the time. They don't just put on some makeup and take a picture. It doesn't work that way.

  • Hey I just read your posting about Dove Evolution and I would just like to further verify your opinion of Dove's Real Beauty campeign. The company that owns Dove, Unilever, also owns Axe, which exploits young women and Fair and Lovely, a company based in the Middle East which sells creams that lightne dark womens skin, with bleach! I think people are so ignorant to just accept Dove's campeign without thinking twice. Anyways who is Dove to say what is beautiful and what is not?

  • wow. she is still ugly as sin after it's finished. it's bad when even photoshop can't help you.

  • Oh PLEASE!! thanks for make this video, i've never seen something like this!! i hope the people see which is the realy beuaty and not the fotoshop or something else....thank to Dove..

  • this is amazing. this commerichal has a great message and i'm really glad that dove is showing that real women are beautiful too.

  • she already has nice feautres so wuteva

i think she looks same but wid jus moremakeup

  • Our perception of beauty is VERY much changed through this type of thing precisely because perception is NEVER a "fixture". Where humanity has found beauty has always changed, regardless of aspects that might seem "constant". And with photoshop, it can be that much further from what really exists...
