When Prime Minister Harper and his cabinet ministers - Jason Kenney and Bev Oda, for example - continually disrespect parliament with their actions, it's a gross double standard to expect a 21 year old woman witnessing the corruption first hand to remain silent and accept it.

What that means is we vote for our representative, so looking at the total votes cast as a total in a manner of popular vote is disingenuous at best. For example, more people voted for the Greens in one riding than would normally because Elizabeth May was there and a Green seat might interest them. It would obviously be different in a popular vote. If you have a problem with how we vote fine, don't lie about the result

"That's how we take action"? Yes, voting is 1 way, BUT IT IS ONLY 1 WAY. There are many other ways to show that we're unhappy: signing petitions; civil disobedience; emailing the PM or MP's; political art, etc. Besides: the gov't calls the elections. If we didn't make our voices heard in the yrs. in between, that would mean that we'd only be able to let them know how we feel every few years. & for many of us, if we see something that isn't right, WE'LL LET THOSE WHO ARE DOING THAT THING KNOW!

Yes, this is an interview, but every time she answers a question, he's coming back with another (very condescending) attack. And Brigette's right: our voting system is screwed-up. Most of us (me included) DIDN'T vote Conservative--and yet we still ended up with a majority government. "But that's our system"? If the voting system is majorly flawed, we shouldn't just sit back and accept it.
