  • i know very sweaty people with iphones. so apple is just taking the mick.

  • 1 person was a "water damaged" iphone.

  • places such as swimming pools, the gym, or placing it on the vanity in you're bathroom while you shower.. no matter which way you look at it water is not good for electronics so if you get even a drop of water on it and something goes bad chances are that its a cause of water damage. it only takes one drop of sweat to shut the whole thing down...

  • @reynex90 sweat is salt water. salt water doesn't shut down your services as quick as normal water. so one drop of sweat will NOT damage it.

  • @LavenderDragonLick

Salt water has higher conductivity than fresh water. Check your facts.

  • @LavenderDragonLick Yeah, sweat might be salty and not damage it blah blah blah, but it can trigger the Water Damage Indicators, pointing that the device got wet, when it didnt, a stupid way to void your warranty...

  • @studio32000 you may have fixed it but when you do that you void your warranty cuz potentially you could wreck other things, most electronic devices have sort of a "trip wire" an indicator that allows phone manufacturers/service techs to see if the customer has attempted to tamper with the product. in most cases you won't even notice the "trip wire" and may think you have them fooled...

my next beef with this story is if you know these indicators can change so easily then just don't bring it

  • what about condensation?

  • apple are con-artists they prob made it like that on purpose

  • Protect your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch from liquid damage - Protect your Warranty

    Purchase an iCorkz Combo Pack

  • wow experts to unscrew 2 screws on the bottom of the iphone. Waste of money. I'm only 12 and I fixed a totaled ipod touch. The screen was shattered.

  • @studio32000 Experts at opening products up, hurrr.

  • is that some has been from xfactor at the end rofl?

  • this is suck device ever

  • i just think its a rip off. it only costs about £8 to make and their costing us a fortune. and it fragile

  • @eastendersmadgal1 lol £8

  • My Ipod's play button stopped working within a week after I traveled to a really humid Southeast Asian country from North America. I saw some condensation marks between the Ipod case and the device when I went outside a heavily air-conditioned building. Apple told me I'm responsible for the device being broken!

  • The silencer button fell off my phone when it was a couple of months old. The Apple shop took it away and came back asking for £130 to repair because their white blob had turned red in the USB connector port. It had never been wet or even damp. I reckon when they took it away they ran a moist thumb over the slot to get out of the warranty obligation. I'm trying Dell Streak next!

  • Search for 'how to fix a ipod touch or iphone that has water damage. poo' on you tube and fool these twat's into mending you phones. Corporate wankers

  • Honestly, how dare these idiots complain about this! Apple has the best freaking return policies of ANY cellphone company! You go walk into a Nokia store, the world's largest cellphone manufacturer, and see if they'll replace your phone when it malfunctions. Hint: They won't.

  • @AdamKaoru obviously not that great as 20% are voided through a tab indicating water by turning red. These phones have not been left in water, just sweat can void the warrenty. They are lazy crap devices made the cheapest labour and exploit people. Junk technology worth nothing in a few years, yeah i love my phone

  • @jabeoo1

First of all, 82% of statistics are made up on the spot.

Second, I've owned iPhones for 2 years and I've never been especially careful, I always take them into the bathroom to play music when I have a shower, and yet the water indicators have never turned pink.

Actually, more work goes into iPhone every year than any other device. The fact that you said "lazy" proves you've NO idea what you're talking about.

All tech is worth nothing in a few years.

  • @AdamKaoru Digital convenience goods like i phones loose value. I have nothing against the company other than producing something with such large profit margin and taking advantage of cheap Chinese labour, then ripping customers out of a warranty. That's fine if you choose to support that product. I also correct you on the point of all tech diminishing value to nothing. Analog devices can go up, take moog for example, ethics design and quality. Not disposable. Apple laptop different!

  • @jabeoo1

Alright, then you must hate every cellphone manufacturer, because they ALL use the same cheap labour, and Foxconn is actually the BEST factory in China in terms of how they treat their workers. Other companies are using factories with even worse working conditions, and Apple is working with Foxconn to improve workers' quality of life, which is more than any other company is doing! Clearly you just read headlines.

  • @AdamKaoru It may be the best but it has a long way to go. Also have you worked in China? You seen to know a lot about the workplaces in china and how 'good' they are. All I meant by mentioning the china labour exploitation is that they should make it themselves in the US and take a profit margin loss, by buying this stuff you directly promote exploitation, and yes every manufacturer of this kind of convenience product is no doubt the same. I personally have never bought a first hand mobile!

  • @jabeoo1

I'm definitely not saying they are "good". What I'm saying is that Foxconn is actually the best factory to work for in China, and other companies use even worse factories to make their products. Foxconn actually just increased their workers' wages by 20%, and now they are going to increase it again by 66%. Apple has said explicitly that they are on top of the situation, while HP and Dell which use Foxconn even more acknowledged it but aren't doing anything.

  • @AdamKaoru

The problem with Foxconn is their corporate culture. You're talking to someone with relatives working in their factories in China. True, Foxconn has great employee compensations. But it also has the highest employee suicide rate in China (11 dead so far). The reason why wage was increased by 66% was the CEO Terry Gou's decision to respond to rising suicide rates. He thought that if he raised salaries and cancelled the insurance plans (where dead employee's families would

  • receive money as a result of their suicide). But he's not solving the real problem. The real problem is the corporate culture and his leadership style. Gou is famous for berating and yelling at his subordinates in front of hundreds of employees. The result is that everyone is very scared of messing up, and so no one reports any problems to superiors. What happens then is that a huge mistake would get discovered, and whoever the problem gets traced to would be under a tremendous amount of

  • psychological stress.

So why don't they quit then? If the workers are so unhappy there? That's where the catch comes in. At other Chinese factories, workers can afford to walk out and leave if they feel like they don't like the way they're treated by their superiors. Why? because the pay is so little. So paradoxically, Foxconn's high salary is the very reason keeping these depressed workers from walking away from their job.

This, is the real reason why Foxconn won't cure its problems.

  • @lxrlllxf

And what, pray-tell, are the suicide rates for other Chinese factories? I don't think you know this. You can't say Foxconn's are the highest when really you have no idea. The only reason Foxconn is getting attention is because one of their employees who killed himself last year was rumoured to have lost an iPhone 4 prototype. Now, all of the other suicides which have NOTHING to do with Apple are being blamed on Apple.

  • @AdamKaoru You're right, China has probablythousands of factories and to get accurate stats about suicide rates from all of them is nearly impossible. But you, in your very comment, says Foxconn is the best company to work for, without any ("pray-tell" real statistics). Your only supporting statement is that Foxconn just gave their employees a raise, that does not prove anything about actual working conditions. Your sarcastic and defensive attitude certainly doesn't help you either.

  • HA! TAKE THAT APPLE! They did this to me n wanted me to pay up £136 cos one sensor was half red! I finally managed to get it flashed and guess what everyhing was fine! That sorta isnt water damage is it Apple?!?!?!?!??!?!? TWATS! Grrrrr that really annoyed me they kept my phone for a month to do fuck all but give me a bill!
