  • Back when TV would air cool music.

  • Guthrie should have a signature Jazzmaster model

  • This is beyond music. This is Art in the process of being made! And we are lucky enough to be able to see it over & over again!

  • 12 people are just... dumb?

  • Found out recently that my g/f toured with the Cocteaus some while back. Sometimes Liz Frazer would be so terrified that they had to play the stage lights on to her so she coundn't see the crowd....how sweet is that?

  • she,s definitely saying "butter" in spanish at the end there

  • @lapisredux ¿ Mantequilla ? - ¡ Parkay ! youtube.com/watch?v=kLoT0jZLe_E

  • @bobbysevensevenseven or she may be saying "man to kill her" :)

  • When was the last time a band changed music?

  • too bad the end cut-off like that.

  • So talented, so incredibly underrated and so terribly missed. I love you CT's. <3

  • BRAVO !!!

  • her voice is heaven...

  • Is there a song as good as this by the cocteau twins, any recommendations, i'm just starting to get into them and love the little I know especially this incredible piece. Wow.

  • @elysianintricacy All of their songs are good. If you have to chose an album to start with I would suggest "The Pink Opaque" because it covers many of the sounds that they've used overall. If you're like me and you don't like discovering bands through compilation records, which is what the Pink Opaque is even though it's an official record (Cocteau Twins chose it as their introduction to a US audience), then I would suggest starting with "Treasure".

  • this is so dark but then again it makes me smile

  • ouh my fucking goodness...i love her sooo much...so deep emotions when i listen to it..

and i remember one of my best friend who died some months ago and loved her so much too...he sure listens to it now constantly, sitting on a little cloud =) miss you goran and love you!

  • fantastic, best band ever ,from mighty grangemouth.sadly missed.

  • Awesome music!!!!

  • I never get tired of listening to this song. Fantastic music.

  • Sometimes I think I was born too late. They are so amazing. Good study music too!

  • I love this. I'm not tired of it yet. One of my favourites :)))

  • Definitely better than the CD version!

  • @harbring 1.They did not eliminate words from their music. 2. Even without words, its still verbal. 3. feeling is not meaning (4. the vast majority of music asks us to interpret it on a "nonverbal" level 5. I assume not all of said music takes u to a place of "otherness" hence 6. the feeling of otherness u feel when listening to CTs has nothing to do with the "nonverbal" asect of it) The melodies, the effects, the keys the songs play in. I dunno. But stop trying to shit thru the eye of a needle

  • @harbring

Calling Professor Harbring, calling Professor Harbring...

It's a great piece of music, by a fantastic band. Yes, there is a primal simplicity in the guitar lines, which, crossed with Fraser's otherworldly vocals, makes for a unique atmosphere...but please, stop forcing your quaint intellectual affectations over this message board. It's a bit much.

  • this is really great..woot! :)

  • Wow glad to see it up here

  • The roots of post-rock.

  • @harbring yes

  • Cocteau rulez!

  • amazing song!! If you like this, I think you will like danish act Inouwee with the song "My closet in your heart"

  • @kaari1 thanks loved the song you recomended ^_____^ and, of course this IS a great song <3

  • Does any one else think the synths at the beginning are annunciating "pink, orange, red"?

  • How does Elizabeth Fraser do this this where she's in two octives at the same time?Amazing

  • joint in hand ... and a trip to anther world ... that voice sweeps you away into another dimension from which you dont want to return from ..... epic !!!

  • Whenever you feel like screaming this song´s there to do it for you.

  • I sent this to my friend, she loves it :3

  • i think i walked with you in a dream one night

  • Liz sings in her very own language!

  • pure contentment at every level!

  • What is this song about? It almost sounds like she's singing backwards.

  • Not the original mix. Is that to had anywhere here? I have this EP on 12 inch, but the turntable's in mothballs.

  • The Twins got me through several teenage hormone crisis and a couple of broken hearts (including the one given me by the girl that took me to see them live in the late 80s).

I will always be in love with that voice.

  • she had stopped singing in english at this point.

  • Creative perfection...

  • for theyre unique sound they dressed very 80s

  • @ybot1983 Well it was 1985. However look at a few other videos from 1985 and I think you'll see they looked pretty tasteful by comparison.

  • to see them live is more of an emotional experience rather than a musical one, mark, x

  • that is what they do, they have been doing it for the last 28 years to my knowledge, good aren't they, msark

  • a great piece of solace from the twins before a cacophony of sound

  • Oh, God! How I love them! I was happy! And I didn1t know that!

  • Play this at my funeral - can't think of a better way to leave this earth

  • I love that there's a reel to reel in the background. Why? I dunno.

  • Damn shame American radio was forcing Huey Lewis and Madonna down my throat when this was out....

  • Beautiful. What happened to music? Wish Wagner did this on X Factor

  • Seven Forty Seven.

  • another amazing song.

  • weird reminds me of a dream I had where a this sort of hazy painting with this same color scheme slowy rose from my dying body. never really knew this bad, cool stuff.

  • This is a better quality version than what's on the Tishbites DVD.

  • watching this video made me realize how the beatles actually kind of sucked

  • @delbertgrady Haha, no kidding.

  • @delbertgrady exactly

  • pink

  • Wow. After listening to this as a first time listener, I have no choice but to declare myself a fan and find some more tracks.

  • Singers used to kick their arses to release a song in the past, it was a hard job even for the passionates. Nowadays singers can't even be called singers because most of them preffer playback and most of the songs follow the same mix as the previewer.

  • Somehow, as impossible as it seems to pick a "favorite" Cocteau Twins song, this one rises to mind. Perhaps it is that sense of DOOM they were so good at touching so softly, so gently upon. Man, can the woman coo.....

  • Cocteaus + good headphones + nice clean blotter acid. That was my youth, and I wouldn't have had it any other way.

  • @beowulven

    .

    ..wow, what a loser!

  • @1is1

    Awwwwww, I'm sure you're not.

  • @beowulven Glad to hear some first hand positive experience of this nature.

  • @beowulven Fuckin right man.

  • @beowulven

    well put :)

  • @beowulven hear, hear! I loved every minute of it too :)

  • Thank you.

  • I want lips like hers.

  • @4isenuf Call me if you get them! I'll come a rushing!!!

  • God,I'm getting old...I saw this 1st time around....

  • @muscarines Me too. Glad I was around to see it, though... :-)

  • @muscarines

    That's cool...

  • THIS IS SO GOOD

  • Ah great days but are they like sigur ros and just singing gobbledegook ,whatever they both make haunting tunes

  • Stunning, never been another act like them.

Great to hear this again, thanks for posting

  • a place to worship is where you find it,but a soundtrack to that cant be bettered by the cocteau twins

  • to most people, lyrics are their mission of deciphering. instead for me, is how is created.

  • This is music!!!

  • This is completely shows you how a talent can go so far with rock tools. They make you think of god!

  • I want a Jazzmaster :(

  • words cant describe this song devine

  • OMG - how divine this trach is !!!

  • great clip, different version too

  • love love love is pink orange red..

  • i remember watching this live on `THE TUBE` on channel 4,great memories from the past, the extent and depth of their melodies and strange yet beautiful vocals is fantastic, perhaps they have one more album in them, it doesn`t have to be a classic, please, just one more!

  • @l344240 I also remember watching this on The Tube and, as a big fan, setting the video to record it (yeah kids, no digital recorders or internet back then). Might still have the video as I never wanted to lose such a rare appearance. Cheers parkhill62.

  • @xGeorgePx yea, i`d do the same sometimes, i remember watching the tube on a Friday and getting all `glammed` up for the disco,we`d have a great night out, cheers, mate,Alan.

  • Liz Fraser is from another planet

  • and i keep saying it... maybe god´s a woman...

  • @leponti it took me a long time to realize, and I keep forgetting. But the evidence is everywhere!

    (I do not understand)

  • @Rozlelous1165 roz, Yi dernehn xapuletto, eres de Euskadi?( are you from the Basque region?atb,Alan.

  • Love <3333

  • Absolutely Amazing!!!

  • hey what age is this from?

  • @MisfioPeton

This is from an EP called Tiny Dynamine, released in October 1985 on 4AD Records

  • @meligan2 thanks! :D

  • @BSANONYMOUS Sometimes she uses a language which she made up herself, something akin to Glossolalia (speaking in tongues); sometimes she uses English words selected for their sound rather than their meaning, and some of her songs are in fully comprehensible English.

This inventiveness and experimentation with sound is what makes the Cocteau Twins so special.

Check out Dead Can Dance for similar vocal sounds.

  • she is using her own'language' that is why you don't get it ....

  • awse..

  • voice of an angel.

  • Great track, love this band and tearwave

  • One of their BEST songs ever!!!!!!!! ...I am transported!

  • this is amazing. i love this band

  • Is she singing in English? i can't even make tha words, even when i read the lyrics?! WTF
