Jersey demonstrated that shot a couple of times when I saw him in Houston and Louisiana. He told this story of how he pulled it on Greg Stevens at Le Cue in Houston and Greg's backer choked and fell over out of his chair and Greg (playfully) blew up with something like, "Red, you gotta give me some weight, you don't killed my backer!" They were both great players and great characters. Jersey was a kind, nice man.
sorry i misread your comment just got in from a long night out this is a one pocket classic and def could be used in 8 ball and would be a great shot if the opportunity came up in 8 ball
I've wondered sometimes if the player who "invented" this shot (if anyone ever did) accidentally brushed the object ball in an attempt to kick behind it (as in a game of One-Pocket). Efren Reyes once said he's learns or learnt lots from watching so-called beginners (whatever that means to the god in our pool universe), picking up things that happen accidentally. Maybe this is one of them?
Nice shot! A different type of ball, ie. stripe or solid over the pocket would have made it look nicer as some people would wonder why you would not just pocket it in the lower left. Only in 8ball this would be used.
@rickymewis1983 I obviously meant in a situation in which the pocket next to the 8 is blocked. Of course, if it is blocked by only one of the opponent's object balls, the 8 can usually be made along with it, but what if there are two?
there is a more difficult version of this in the artistic pool program .... chek out my videos... i think i gat the shot there with more difficult cue ball position ...nice shot
@emuskova this is a real pool shot actually shot in a match with jersey red not a trick shot you can very rarely use a trick shot in real pool you can shoot this one a little more often
I get it's a one pocket shot...but wouldn't just kicking at it be more high percentage

Really a One-Pocket classic, though, but could sure be used in 8-ball, too.
