The use of this instrument in many older science fiction movies was a stroke of genius. I still get chills up my spine watching movies with a theremin in the music score. The Day the Earth Stood Still is a fine example of how hair-raising this instrument can be. Forbidden Planet was another gem. So was the original The Thing.
