I have just over 30 firearms, and I spend way too much time cleaning them as it is. I can't imagine doubling that number, and having to keep up with the maintenance.

i use "LSA 395" "LUBRICANT SMALL ARMS" the temp gets very low in NH 5 months out of the year. i am disappointed in myself. i haven't been out to the range for months. im too busy being a parent. my son is six years old. when he is eight we will start with real world range safety. we shoot air riffles on the property now. i live within the "city limits" . if i discharge a firearm at home i would break the "law". condensation is a big issue for me. be safe on the range.

the sks is a very dependable riffle. none of mine have ever failed. ever. even with the cheapest chi com corrosive ammo they have all worked flawlessly.

i sorry to say that the kel tec is a different story all together. i am not a fan.

I love the SKS because I bought one from my father when he first bought it and it was really cheap($175). You get a lot for your money. The Sub 2000 I love for backpacking up in the mountains. Cougars/Mountain Lions are a big concern by yourself. When you need the sight radius and range Sub 2000 is the way to go. Also takes my Glock mags. Sorry to hear about your dud.
