  • What happens to the cigars if I had too much humidity? I have a very bad (smallish) humidor, where I struggled to maintain the constant humidity, so I tried to always put extra humidity in.

Currently I use the 75% humidipacks. I've put about two at the bottom, and another two at the top of the cigars, because i suspect the lid of the humidor is not tight enough and I have less humidity at the top.

I would like to know the state of my cigars now. Any tips on what to check / how to inspect them?

  • I put a digital hydrometer at the bottom of this humidor, and I have an analogue at the top. The digital one reads between 57-60%, while the analogue 70% (it is right above the 75% humidipack). I did calibrate both, and when I put the digital one inside a glass jar with the 75% humidipack and close it with a tight lid I get the exact constant 75% reading.

Should I just through away thus humidor and store my cigars in a big glass jar rather? Any danger to the cigars from doing this?

  • I think I've kept the cigars for about 4 -5 months like that, and I suspect (but not sure) they don't taste the same ...

  • question , if i use the boveda packages i dont have to use distilled water and wipe the humidor wood?.

  • @p1zuzu That is correct but you should first use the seasoning packs from Boveda and then when seasoning process is done, you can use the regular packets.

  • @VendilisCorp thanks for the quick answer , can i use one seasoning pack in two different humidors , or i need one per humidor??

    regards.

  • I bought some Xikar gel crystals and I was wondering if I should use the green foam humidifier and the crystals or just the crystals?

  • @jtstookz It all depends on the size of the humidor but most of the time, I would recommend to just use the crystals, that will make the maintenance much easier and it is more reliable than the green foam.

  • Hello, you should use 2- packet for that size humidor. Chris

  • I just bought a humidor and it can hold up to 50 Cigars. How many boveda 84% do I need to seasoned?

  • @CanecaProductions You would need 2 packets for a 50-cigar humidor

  • Great Video! Keep it up!! :)

  • avoid glass tops!

  • @TheGauloisesmoker Use the Boveda pack of 72% and store it on your humidor and close it. After one day it should be reading at least about 68%. After 2 or 3 days it will be at 70% sharp. I had the same issue. Good Luck
