Sweeping is kind of over used these days. I can admit I tend to over do it sometimes too.

It's just how those little harmonies enhance the original lines and how well Shannon's vibrato is on this lead. + the sweeps at the end just rule. The Pull The Plug "breakdown" is what I call "half-speed", which is when you retain the same basic tempo, but play the rhythm slower. Breakdowns apply to a more drastic change, as you said. Domination, by Pantera, has a great example of a breakdown. Zero Tolerance has a breakdown. Pull the Plug doesn't. Benedictine Convulsions by Cryptopsy has a great breakdown.
