  • From North UK, to me you do sound just about American, it didn't smack me in the face though like most American accents.

The way you say three sounds very American & and the second part of the word accent you say it like sent/cent which is a big give away to me.

Obviously i cant give you much feedback other than that as i wouldn't be able to differentiate that much between different US state accents.

The best thing i can tell you is that you sound more intelligent/less stupid than most from US

  • You have an American accent :D

  • You have a midwestern accent.

  • yeah you have a midwestern accent

  • You sound normal. You said "Ohio" differently though.

  • no u dont u sound american :)

  • You've got an accent to me :P

    (I'm from northern england)

  • Everyone has an accent in someone's mind. The British made the English language, so i guess all Americans have accents.

  • To me you speak standard US television newscaster English. Midwest accent or no accent as seen from my prospective. I'm from Lincoln, Nebraska.

  • Yeah that sounds how most the people here in Kansas City sound

  • You have a slight midwestern accent. And I'm from Ohio. xD I don't sound like that.

  • no you sound just like me and i am from wisconsin

  • Lots of Western Ohioans that I've met sound like Pittsburg, similar to Baltimore, southern NJ & PA, those weird northern tentacles of WV.. Mid-Atlantic, that odd blend of northeastern and Appalachian. But you sound like a mix. You sound like central Ohio, Columbus down into northern KY, e.g. "end" like "ind", "Tinnessee", "theenk" etc.; but with a few hints of that Mid-Atlantic thing, e.g. how you pronounce "and", "before", "York", the Pittsburg glottal "really", and your general cadence.

  • I'm Australian and you sound pretty much accent-less to me.

  • @kwrkrlz im Australian too you are right I think I can't hear an accent when he is talking, we Australians have a big accent every time I hear someone talking it is so funny...

  • Hi, I'm from Arkansas, and I can hear a very subtle difference in the way your "O"s are pronounced compared to what I hear in this region. Oh, and theoretically speaking, everyone has an accent.

  • As an American I would have to say that you really sound fairly neutral in that you have no readily identifiable accent.A trained phonetician would be able to place where you have lived or spent your formative years. As a former linguistics student, my question for you would be" why is it important to you to know how others perceive your speaking style?". In the US most people are not as readily defined socially by their speaking style as say in Britain.Considering a career in radio or TV?

  • Nope, just like we do here in Ohio... we have no accent.

  • You have the perfect broadcast dialect that they want. NONE. I could not figure out where you were from if I were to meet you in person. (Looking for a job in broadcasting? Look into something else). Nothing personal against you... but broadcasting careers suck dog crap. I know... I used to do it.

  • you sound the same i live in wisconsin

  • You do not sound like a Kentucky hillbilly/southern (please don't take offense for your family), or anything from the Eastern seaboard. Because I am from Indiana (with a northwest Indiana accent -- NOT "Hoosier"/hillbilly/southern), you sound like you have no accent at all. You have that generic American accent that is emulated by TV broadcasters. If you are looking for a speaking job you qualify. I don't think the occasional uh's and um's you throw in are regional accents, just habit.

  • i'm from north east Ohio, you sounds much the same as me. not southern, not western, and not far eastern. just Ohioan hahaha

  • Nope. Your accent is the standard American Accent. It is what every single News Reporter in the United States attempts to imitate in order to be the most understandable. It is considered the Mid-Western Accent, and you and I both share it. It is the most easy-to-understand accent in America.

  • NAww..Yuh sound just likke me...I'm from IN tho.

  • sound the same my opinion

  • according to nh, you sound just fine :)

  • I really did not detect any regional accent. And certainly not Pittsburgh or SW PA/OH. I am from that area and it is immediately picked up on.

I have lived all over the East Coast of the US for about 20 years. With the majority of the latter being in VA. I recently returned to the Pittsburgh area in October for a family wedding and when I returned to VA, lots of people commented on my new funny accent. Glad it faded quickly.

  • NO..your accent is very generic midwest.

  • don't here much of one...

but i'll give us Ohioans credit for one thing...

we have an extreme talent for slurring a bagillion words into one big long ones. ha

    yay us. lol

  • @Kelsie154 XD Yes we do. =D

  • You have a pretty neutral accent, but you need to work on the 'uhs' and 'ums'.

  • I don't think you have an accent. Yours sounds pretty neutral.

  • i live in central Florida and i don't think you have an accent at all. that's how most people i know speak.

  • definitely a bit of cleveland in there...

  • no, u don't

  • dude i am also from southwestern ohio and my family is also from kentucky but come on man, you know as well as i do that your accent isnt the norm from where we're from

  • im from England and you don't speak like wot we do lol. Really your accent is fine but I can only recognise, new york, deep south, possibly chicago and dare I say it Canada

  • Technically everybody has an accent because people from different regions of the united states, or the world, speak english (and/or their own languages) a different way. If you went to the south they would think you have an accent, if you went to new york, they would too. You have a very "neutral" sounding accent for speaking english so if you wanted an answer based on that then no you do not have an accent. However, as I said before everybody does, yours is just what you area sounds like.

  • You over pronounce your T's like Canadians. You say "think" like someone from Idaho would say it. Other than that it sounds pretty neutral.

  • estas loco o q en el otro video estabas preguntando q si tenias acento hispano y ahora preguntas q si tienes acento de USA

  • you don't have the "ohian" accent.

but ohio (especially the soul and east) have "ohian" accents

  • no not to me I'm from northeast Ohio and everybody sounds like that

  • BTW I think it is hilarious that all these Ohio ppl are writing in saying "I`m from Ohio, you sound just like me, no accent" That is hilarious. Ppl that speak the same accent of course don`t hear the accent! That`s like one Southerner asking another Southern "do you hear an accent when I speak?" Of course they don`t!

  • You definitely have an accent., but accents are nice so be proud of it!

  • i am from ohio too and everybody says we don't have an accent.... you sound like me though...

  • generic western sound

  • I worked in broadcasting for a lot of years before losing my job in the Untied States. You are not the one with the accent. It's the rest of the Untied States that has the accent. I had to force myself to lose my Pittsburgh accent, and have never, ever been sorry that I did. You sound fine and if you were looking for a job in broadcasting, and I had the opportunity to hire you, I'd hire you in a minute because you're accent free.

  • I think it sounds like Upper Midwest: the Wisconsin Accent. But it's very slight, and it's mainly just a midwest accent: flat and nasally.

  • Not really. I like in the northeast, and I can notice something, but it's more like correct ennunciation. You pronounce your vowels, so that might be the difference.

  • kentucky people are beast ;)

  • You sound just like me and I am from Atlanta, Georgia. People in the south who live in the big city usually have a more standard American accent.

  • Yeah SW Ohio accent

  • generic

  • im from ohio and you sound like me :)

  • Im from the south and you sound like youre prolly from the midwest (indiana or ohio)

  • To answer your question. No southern sound whatsoever. No hint of Kentucky. Generic, standard American English, like newscasters, etc.

  • I'm from California (born in Los Angeles) and you have a very typical "American" accent. Your accent is mid-land or the mainstream, standardized depiction of proper American enunciation and speech. I've been told I have a mid-land accent as well and if I met you I'd never think you were from the South, maybe the West or the Midwest, Pacific Northwest.

  • you sound just like me :) i'm from sw minnesota.

  • im from Washington and i think you sound normal, haha sound like your from America! :D

  • You have a typical north midland (midwestern)accent. The type of accent that really has no accent. In short, the perfect American accent like most of the state of Iowa where Iam from.

  • 5 great lake state accents sound the same from toronto to buffalo to chicago to ohio they all sound the same i'm from toronto and i don't hear anything

  • You sound like you have an educated western Pennsylvanian or Ohioan accent. Like me i guess, yeah, you sound like the people that live around me, in western pa north of Pittsburgh.

  • yea, I'm from Ohio. northern. and i don't have an accent. well, i guess i talk really fast and it probably sounds like i talk out of my noise, but yea. you sound, to me, like a Pennsylvanian or northern Ohio accent. lol!!!!

  • There's not a such thing as having "no accent". Everyone has an accent... some just may be stronger than others.

  • i think you sound very normal (I was mostly raised in southern ontario), but you said f-ay-mily (family), maybe i'm over analyzing, i don't know.

  • no accent

  • I've never heard any accent from Ohioans

have a listen to my accent video and guess where I'm from

  • I'm from Canada and you sound normal to me.

  • @PoisonSerpent I think our accent around the great lakes sound the same from watching the videos i've come to this conclusion

  • Im in northeast ohio and u dont speak any different then me , my family, and friends

  • im from the uk, you have a cute accent!

  • Slight accent. I've heard much more ridiculous ohio accents.

  • sounds neutral to me

  • You sound totally normal

  • no accent

  • I live in Northern Ohio and I can definitely hear an accent different from mine. I would say I sound a bit Canadian, even though I'm not. Yours is SLIGHTLY a Kentucky accent.

  • I am from Chicago and you speak in a general American accent. I did not notice a trace of anything that would lead me to believe you were from a certain region.

  • I've often wondered this about myself... The only accent I hear is a general American one. I'm from Oklahoma City. Most people from other states have told me that I have a general American accent. At times when I become emotional what accent I have becomes pronounced. I lived in TX 4 several years as a child & when we moved back 2 OK my aunt video taped a play my cousins & I were performing...the twang I picked up was shocking, far greater than my sisters (tho I was the only school aged child).

  • you have the basic neutral united states accent almost, there's a def slight midwest there...i know this cuz im from Maryland and MD is a accent melting pot

  • I'm Canadian and you sound like every other anglophone I know lol

  • Im from north-eastern OH. Sounds just like a normal mid-western accent.

  • @dbinford80 me too im from akron

  • yeah you have an accent from san francisco or what not it seems that you're probably gay your welcome

  • a new england accent.

  • You sound like A Canadian pretending to be an American

  • You have No accent i'm from Mississippi

  • Yeah, you do have an accent. I'm from Michigan.

  • actually, Michigan has the accent. Central Ohio (Columbus, Dayton) is considered a neutral midwestern accent

  • no accent

    from calgary

  • hey would you call me i have to learn your accent i´m serious please write me a private message

  • You are a American/Canadian definitely.

  • I'm from CT, you sound normal

  • the way you say "ohio" sounds like youre from ohio.

  • ohioans dont have accents lol

  • my boyfriends from Ohio he deffinatley has one lol

  • south eastern ohioans do trust me..lol

  • Do we? What do we sound like? I don't hear it.

  • south eastern ohioans hav more of a twang,,although not all soundl like it..but most all do..lol...and northern ohioans sounds like canadians lol

  • I'm from northern Ohio and I don't sound Canadian

  • @MsRobotcat wat part?

  • uhh nope,

    from toronto, canada

  • I don't hear it at all. I'm from So Cal now living in Texas.

  • You don't sound like you have an accent to me. I'm from central Indy. People say that everyone has an accent to people from other places. I don't believe that's true. You don't have an accent if all of your words are pronounced the way that they are supposed to be pronounced. For example, the dictionary shows the correct way of pronouncing words. That's one way to know wether you "technically" have an accent.

  • Im from Iowa. You don't sound any different from us.

  • Im from Maryland and I can tell you're from somewhere in the north or midwest. you pronounce "I" and "O' differently

  • I'm from Ohio as well I dont think you have an accent at all! My family is originally from West Virginia and ppl always say I have a southern accent. I dont hear it tho!

  • I'm from West Virginia.........I don't hear it either.

  • I am from southeastern Ohio and I don't hear it.

  • you sound general american

  • im from northern ohio and i can tell a bit of a difference but not much

  • Honestly I'm from ohio and you sound normal. Practically nothing to me but I'm around mid-westerners all the time.

  • im from CA, you dont have an acccent that i can tell of.

  • Comment removed

  • i'm from lancaster ohio...

    which is central ohio...

and yes. you sound like you have a souther accent to me.

but my moms from glouster which is in athens county and she has a southern accent as well.

haha i think its so funny how when she sais stink, she sais stank. lmao

  • Im from the United Kingdom. And you all sound the same.

  • nationality: mexican

  • its very slight, im not sure where its from but its actually similar to bill murrays accent but barely noticeable. and accent depends on who is hearing it.

  • midwest..i live here and you sound just like my teacher..

  • do you have an accent?

of course you do. everyone does. my accent if you listen to my vids, you'll hear the rural accent from around Lima (wapakoneta), which has microscopic southern twang. my unlce, grandma, grandpa, and mom, as well as neil armstrong speak similarly to me XD

though me speech has been influenced by my time in texas XD

but to me, you don't have much of an accent..

  • i am from new york and every one has an accent you don't to me

  • being from WI, I don't think you have an accent.

  • I'm from New York u have an accent

  • I'm from Western Canada. You have no accent.

  • yeah i'm from ohio and alotta ppl say i sound a little differnt. most i've heard is a "hick" or "country" accent. especially here in chicago and wisconsin everyone always ask me where i'm from

  • im english, and you definately sound american, youve got a bit of a drawl most americans sound the same to me, i wonder if us brits all sound the same??

  • Get off my land Yankee trash!

  • Haha I'm from Ohio too, right in the middle of the valley... about 2 hrs outside of Columbus. You don't have an accent but hey what to I know? =P

  • I'm Canadian and I don't find that you have an accent at all.

    ;)

  • I know you wanted to hear from people residing in other U.S. states but I stumbled upon this and had to comment. I'm from Canada and you don't sound like you have an accent. Should I?

  • NV here!! Yeah, you do have an accent on some of the words like fasssenating/fasinating. ^^ Cool!

  • Im from pittsburgh. I can tell you are a well spoken person. might say umm a little too much but, hey. I also cant tell that you are from ohio.

  • im from north carolina....and you have a accent bigtime!

i deff think you dont have a southern accent, you talk wayyy to

like i say ahh, as "i" and you say eye-ee as "i"

    just my opinion.

  • i'm from NJ,i don't know why I don't hear an accent..

  • I hear a tiny bit of the midwestern accent in your voice, but its very subtle. "gas" "family" "and" "sound" "thought"

  • I'm from southern Wisconsin you don't have an accent at allll! but I would have to hear you say bag, milk, eggs, flag, phone. those are pretty much dead give aways to where you are from.

  • Ohio is one of the only places in the world that has no accent. (: I'm from Ohio. The great lakes states always pronounce things the way they are supposed to be pronounced according to the Websters dictionary. People who try to learn the US accent always get training in Ohio or from Ohioans. Everyone wants to talk like us, lol.

  • @hayley795 everybody has an acent. i remember talking to a mexican guy, and i asked him whats the diference betwen a mexican and a puerto rican. he told me, they have an acent, we dont. he was from southern california, and al he ever saw were mexicans, so he just assumed mexicans didnt have an accent, but if you asked someone from spain, they would say that mexicans do have an accent. i have visited part of ohio where the majority of the people have kentucky ancestry, and they speak kentucky.

  • Im from northern Wisconsin and you totally sound normal to me. I would guess that you have a Midwestern accent, not as strong as ours in Wisconsin but still noticable. I will argue however, that the Midwest accent like mine and yours, are the most mild accents in the whole country as compared to the south, east coast and west coast (or Canada eh).

  • I'm from Southern Ohio and I talk the sameeee way.(: You don't have an accent to Ohioans, but maybe to other people from different cities and countries.

  • it doesnt sound like u hav an accent but u talk really slow. well thats just me. i dont know if anyone else thinks u talk slow

  • you sound like a lot like all the californians I encounter.

the real dealbreaker is this: when you order a drink, do you request soda, pop, or coke?

that gives people a big clue to where you are from.

  • I don't think you have an accent at all. Not bad, not good very homogenized. Be glad you don't have that "normal" midwestern nasal thing going for you. As far as Southern, everyone seems to want to be southern these days but we all can't. I was blessed though!

  • Who wants to be Southern and why? (I'm Southern, by the way)

  • In my teen and early twenties, I was one who wanted to lose all of my Southern culture, mannerisms, and speach. Why? Because outside people made fun of my accent, and all those "quaint" things that make us southerners unique among the rest of the US citizens. I've now come to embrace and love my roots and heritage. Besides that, why are those people up North wanting to so badly cross the Mason-Dixon line, whether it be for vacation (to get away from it all) or to just slow down and live life

  • You really don't sound like you have an accent.. I have a great lakes accent so.

  • I don't hear an accent. And I'm from the Midwest but bordering the south. I live in Missouri but we can have a southern accent and/or an typical mIdwesterners accent I guess you could say.

  • nah you sound like a typical average american

  • you don't have much of accent

  • psh, the kentucky and ohio region dont really have an accent. but once you get into wisconsin, iowa and minnesota they've got accents. im from wisconsin btw

  • I beg to differ on Kentucky, perhaps N. Kentucky could be put in your generalized assumption, however, Most of Kentucky especially central and Southern areas, the actual locals have very southern accents. Ky has so many midwestern transplants that sometimes people think that those people are the native locals.

  • naw i'm from california and i don't even think you have much of an accent

  • I'm from Seattle and you sound just like I do.

  • I'm not sure why people ask this. Everyone has an accent whether regional or mixed.

  • you don't have a southern accent at all

  • Everyone speaks with an accent. There is no standard, "unaccented" english to compare yours to. Modern english is a widely spoken language that has been evolving for 800 years or more. Everyone speaks it differently. It just depends who you are comparing yourself to.

  • u do to me but im from the mountains of NC so like ya

  • wen you first started speaking you had a strong accent you sounded spanish ..but after that it simply soundd normal

  • ya im from pittsburgh, you got an accent

  • You sound midwestern. I'm from the Chicago area you sound similar to accents from the north/midwest, much more so than the south!

  • Accent? Yeah, it's called "sexy"!

  • Hey bud, Im from dayton. If you live in Cincy, that would explain it. The Cincy accent sounds like a watered down NY. It shows up just a little in some of your vowels. Up in dayton we have a lot of people from KY and TN so I make strong vowels at the end of words "a"s. It is not uncommon to hear Cincinnatah for example. But really it your accent is so small that I really had to look for it and I as a local i knew what to look for.

  • I am from England i i do not think you have an accent at all 0.0

  • seriously!!! people say i have an ohio accent because i say pop instead of soda and they say i sound weird....

    i never even knew

  • You have a Midwestern accent. Definitely not Appalachian, which it would be if you had more Kentucky influence.

  • to me ur english is pretty standard, u dont even have a prominent us accent like ppl from texas. But I mean..if u wanna know just for curiousity its fine, still u shouldnt make a big deal outta it cuz accents keep a language interesting. I can tell u theres nothing more boring than speaking a language without any accent, ive lived in england for a while now and im doing my best to pick a typical strong accent, not sure which one yet, but defo a northern accent, and i think im doing good lol

  • at least you say ohio the way its spelled.

    lol.

i live in the lancaster/baltimore area and the people around here tend to say "uh-hi-uh"

    lol.

  • Typical Ohio accent...pleasant enough..accents seem to change in diferent parts of OH. Usually, Columbus is broader, flater speach...I'm guessing you're from Dayton.

  • I hear a little bit of a Baltimore accent myself, or maybe Canadian. I'm from Columbus, and grew up among many people with ties to southern Ohio (like my Dad, from Gallipolis), Kentucky, and West Virginia, and to my ears your voice don't have much southern Ohio in it. People here in NJ, where I live now, tell me I have a southern twang; maybe I'l play your vid for my gf and see what she thinks. (Check my YouTube channel for samples of my speech, for comparison.)

  • I'm from Northwest Ohio and you sound like everyone around here. GO BUCKS!

  • You sound like my history teacher & he's from West Virginia( he doesn't have a West Virginian accent)

  • You have no accent. I'd say neutral American.

    (From a Western Canadian perspective)

  • I'm a New Englander who has traveled a lot throughout North American and Europe. To me, you sound generic mid-west, which is a bland, generic American accent with hints of Canadian in the flattening of the short o's and the tightening of the long o's. The short o's sound like ah, like in "father" and the long ones have that very slight
