Probably a lot growing up - but they did perform "O Holy Night" together on the radio on Christmas a year ago. They also perform "P Stands for Paddy" together at McReynolds Bar, Dungiven on Cara's wonderful REDCASTLE SESSIONS DVD.
i'd first heard this tune by cathie ryan and it blew me away! this darlin does garden valley with at least equal justice and i love hearing cara sing it as she is mesmerizing.
Her voice is truly unique, makes the hairs on the back of neck stand up!. No other nation in the world could produce a singer like Cara Dillon, Her Derry accent is clearly audible in all of her songs.
Stunningly beautiful. Why, oh why, can't our so-called American divas understand what Cara so clearly does: that a beautiful voice should serve the song. She tells this story incomparably.
good word changes to make it fit a woman, not-from-tayside. I love this song so much and listen to it when im far from home... now i have another version to enjoy aswell!
This is a beautiful song written by Dougie Maclean - a brilliant singer/songwriter - it's a song about his beloved Perthshire whilst he lived in the city.... Cara does a beautiful job!!
after i saw Cara sing at the blackstaff sessions i went out and bought her albums....she has an amazing distinctive voice...very sweet, innocent and moving....big fan now....
pronip, im taking a guess it was probably the streets of derry, she sang that with paul brady. Its actually on here somewhere. I watched it yesterday and it totally chilled me to the bone.. this gal has true talent. anyways i hope u find the song that your looing for.
Never heard of Cara Dillon until I saw a live version of this song on BBC4 Transatlantic Sessions. The melancholic beauty of this song is haunting. If you get a chance see the version I did, Fantastic.
she came to dorset and played at the gilingham festival. she signed my booklet and dedicated there were roses to me lol i luv it specially rthis song XXXX
This is my current favourite Cara Dillon song, I love the album version, I have seen her sing it live, I hope to hear her sing it live again in three weeks time and "Garden Valley" just bowls me over with its beauty yet so much sadness. It really brought a tear to my eye when I heard it live at The Trinity Theatre at Tunbridge Wells a year ago. Just as then, it is possible that "There's No Peace For Me" (Sniff!!)
So beautiful!

About 2% of us are exposed to music of this quality, the rest feed off the "pigswill" that the radios pump out.
Dougie is one of the finest songwriters & performers that these islands have produced. Cara does a fine job.
