I liked the first one better, maybe it's because I'm more of a versus player. In the second one, when they threw you the new special infected it made it too much like they overfed the concept... Although I like the Scavange mode I think it would've been even better in the first game. The Coop mode in the second one adds more veriaty though but it haven't got the atmosphere...

L4D: Darker, different characters

L4D2: Lighter in most parts, more (and better) weapons, different characters, INSANELY better physics system (throw a pipe bomb in the first one, then in the second.

First: Zombie disintegration

Second: Zombie parts go flying! xD)
