  • What do YOU go for when you emulate Betts' tone?

You're a great teacher and I’m steadily under your tutelage.

    Thanks man.

    Steve

  • Hey John, great lick again! Thanks.

I'm still working through my "Blue Sky" lesson from you, learning all the 1,3,5 positions and notes. Really helping me.

I recently put together a new set-up (Marshall 50 watt plexi reissue, 2 JBL D120F's from a 1966 Fender Bassman, and my first pedal board). I use a Dickey Betts red top Les Paul.

For the pedals, I use an Ibanez TS 808 Keeley mod.

Any suggestions on getting the overdrive tone I hear you use here?

  • @archambault65 That's great. Thanks. I like using the Fulltone OCD for his tone. Really smooth sounding.

  • @johntuggle I'll look that up, thanks.

Have you ever heard of the Bonnie Blue by MSD? Classic southern rock overdrive. I'll check out the Fulltone OCD.

  • I have a cover of both solo parts for "Jessica" on my channel for those who are interested. As always, your tutorials are great John!

  • @magikbee Thanks. You were the first to ever take a chance on my lessons. So thanks for all your support!

  • I miss your Derek-Trucks style slide playing :/
