This scene shows why I still love Seinfeld. I think you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who could keep a straight face during this scene with Philip Baker Hall.
I had the honor of meeting Mr. Hall in the airport several years ago. He was sitting a few seats away from me in the terminal. I leaned over and very quietly said, "Excuse me, I don't mean to bother you, but I just wanted to say that I've seen you in countless movies but without question, you were the best guest character EVER on Seinfeld." He could have not have been more gracious - and his wife said people call him "Bookman" all the time - even as far away as China! LOL Very nice man!
this is one of my fave TV scenes of all time, it is timeless and will be funny forever detective bookman was brilliant lmfaooooooooooo@Library Detective named Bookman god damn funny!
Philip Baker Hall is friggin' HILARIOUS.................he was also funny in the short-lived Fox sitcom The Loop.................anyone remember that show?
"what about that kid sitting down at the local library finding drawings of pee pee's and wee wee's" oh man that bit cracked me up just the way he said it was hilarious
It's amazing how many famous scenes and people appeared on Seinfeld. the soup nazi, the low talker and the puffy shirt, bookman, the JFK baseball assassination, the pony remark, the contest, and the list goes on, greatest show in history
Mr. Hall is fantastic. Many people wish that his character was given many more scenes. But he said in an interview that after his role as Bookman, he never really had to audition for a job ever again. Nice break for a nice guy.
"Well let me give u a hint junior.." He stays in the same monotone the whole time! This is really hilarious!! Should have brought him back for another episode!! LMAO

I got a flash for you, joyboy. Party time is over.
Magnificent.. I could watch this all day. Think his character was supposed to be a spoof of those old detective shows..Dragnet etc, I believe that was what they said in the dvd commentary anyway.
This is to Mike and Sam (The New Zealand Goddess) to wish you a very happy christmas from laser boy. Huia`s gain is our loss. Are you still up for a visit this winter/spring or have you come to your senses?

I think the real humor is that a library investigator is taking his job way too seriously as if he was a murder detective, and making the false accusions (except the fact that he never did return the book) of Jerry like he was a killer. The narrative also contributed a lot to the humor too of course.
