When I found out Alex Cox made Repo Chick, I was pissed. Then I realized that it was a hell of a lot better that he make some bastard flick than an actual sequel to Repo Man. This is one of my favorite open endings, because you can really blow your mind at the possibilities. Caught it at the Saturday cult movie a couple months ago. So badass.
@letadlovkrouzku : ok, there is it: Sy Richardson's character in Repo Man, Lite, gives this fictional book to Emilio Estevez' character, Otto. The cover of the book can be seen onscreen for a few seconds, and the author's name is obscured by Otto's arm, but you can see "DIORETIX: The Science of Matter over Mind by (lambda) Rum Bobb-." This is an obvious parody of L. Ron Hubbard and his book, Dianetics, upon which the Church of Scientology is based.
I love this Movie! One of the best and most overlooked of all-time! Alex Cox(director) did a great job here but, he really pissed off Hunter Thompson.
Michael Nesmith used his mothers inheritance from inventing liquid paper correction fluid 54 million bucks to finance this classic movie. Everything about this is detailed to perfection. Bravo. Olivia Brarash, was sorta like Kristy McNicole at the time????
Stil love this movie so much because (among other things) it's still so innocent. There's the in-jokes and what, but it's still harder on its content than its viewers. End of movie in a more solemn tone? Bowie "Sons of the Silent Age."
They do not make movies like this anymore. I'm not sure if I'm sad about that (this movie rules), or if I'm glad (no new films could/should even attempt to be quite like Repo Man)
They just screened Repo Man at a theater nearby :-)
The edited for TV version is funnier because Harry Dean Stanto says "Melonfarmer" over and over again. There's also a deleted scene or significant extra footage in the TV version, I think.
Haha yeah
