I really like the take on avoiding cliche' drumming. I think that is the main reason why I tend to get into a "musical rut". Lack of inspiration and creativity are groove killers.

porcupine tree have pushed you to stand out even more, i mean the drumming stands out in almost all of PT's songs ..
so yes it must be the best choice you took, to join the band that we consider to be our inspiration, porcupine tree is a band that simply contains geniuses , we are lucky...

Definitly, I just can't name anyone who would be better technically and as well musically as a drummer...
When PT got this break after "the incident" and Mike Portnoy left Dream Theater i thought: "hmmm..." but I'm happy that Gavin is still with PT, it's more mature music for me... although im big fan of both bands :D

Gavin is a music philosopher. I love what he says about the different band members' lives affecting the music the band plays.
