Saw you guys in Mallow Co.Cork yesterday and was blown away, now it wasn't my first concert adn i did miss some of my old favourites, songs and members but still... well done. bravo!! keep it up
They are singing in Irish, and that may be some or all of their native languages. I know the group is all Ireland. My choir is performing this piece, and it is just an amazing work. Incredibly difficult, and awesome to listen to. I love it!
musiclovinggurl123, that's actually not completely true. To some extent, yes, if they are fluent in the language, it makes it easier, but not by much. One, this song starts out in the time signature and switches rapidly to 6/8, 10/8, 11/8, and back WITHOUT PAUSE. And Gaelach is one of the hardest languages to pronounce. To do a song with this incredible speed and get every note right without being conducted at all is extremely impressing. The speed is impressing, given everything I just listed.
I would think that singing the language would be much easier than speaking. Singing flows much easier than simply speaking. Plus, I'm sure they practiced for months. :)
Thank you! We are always delighted to destroy a piece. By "it" I assume you mean the song. which was written specifically for us by Michael McGlynn. Oh, that means we destroyed the piece written for us specifically. Yes. That makes sense. Thanks again.
For a start, it's way too fast. I speak Irish Gaelic and the speed at which it is sung takes away from the lyrics. I do not mean to offend you but this is just my opinion, obviously there are alot of other people who enjoy it. I have grown up with the Clannad version, so maybe that's why I find it strange. I do not understand what you meant when you said Dulaman was written specifically for you, wasn't it written in the late 70s by Clannad?
Lol the soloist *does* look kind of ticked off in this video. Love listening to it though! I'm a big fan of Anuna, hell I'd try and audition for them if they were based in the states.
(Avsalon, I'm also in choir and direct a couple myself, but I don't make those kinds of faces =P)
greendragon828 said: That'd be John McGlynn. You should hear him sing "Fionnghuala"! See post below. (Why didn't it stick to the post I replied to??) Enjoy!
the lyrics as listed under the "more info" are from the Celtic Woman version with Meav. The lyrics that these men of Anuna sing are in a slightly different order. I can post them, if people want.
I went through nearly every video of Dulaman on here before coming across this one. I was pleased to find this version and linked to you from my Song A Day blog. Thanks for uploading it! -Catherine

The text is traditional. What you should have written is that "You destroyed the text...in my opinion". Otherwise, yawn.

La migliore interpretazione di Dulaman mai ascoltata!! Bravi Bravissimi!!

Saying a song fast isn't that impressing. If they know the Langauge as well, its not hard since they speak it quickly anyway.

Why does the lead singer look like he just killed someone? Perhaps he should look up and stop looking so evil.

To 13Naru13: Heh, it always does that! Bet it's doing so right now. Little bugger.
I like this version of the song, it's cool. I like Meav's version as well. Clannad's is a little too slow, but it's still fairly good!
