This game used a completely overhauled engine for it's rendering. Compare a reference coded game like Quest 64 to it and you will notice the differences in things such as fps and maximum amount of textures usable on screen.

I have this game, it seems like they rushed the Ground Levels or the N64 just screwed up because when your speeder is destroyed in these Ground missions sometimes the speeder will go right through the ground and explode.
