hi. could u help me please? i record videos with camstudio and they record avi. when i click to play videos with winamp, the ones recorded with camstudio wont play but every other wiamp video like stuff downloaded from youtube and stuff i made with hypercam 2 will. help? thanks
also, i cant see SOME youtube videos LIVE WHILE ON THE INTERNET. my screen says an error occurrrred. please try again later. it happens with some youtube videos but not all. is it my winamp? i have windows 7
Ovation is now sold by Adobe. I am trying it with Windows 7 and ppt 10. I had to save my ppt files as ppt (native is pptx). The problem is that my slides do not show in the preview window. Adobe has no support for the trial version-not even a forum. Is there some other program similar to ovation that you know of?
Thanks for the comment! Yes, I did mention that in a comment a long time ago...Thanks for the reminder. Ovation is NOT compatible with PowerPoint 2007.
Export the file as a video and then open it in video editing software. That way you can speed up the play rate for the sections you want and condense the length of the video. Just requires another tool but easily doable.
I'm having trouble with the audio-video SYNCHRONIZATION. Can someone please help me with this?
Also how can I make LONG recordings (1 to 2 hours) without having a HUGE file size? For example, I wanna let Camtasia start recording a video I'm streaming and I wanna leave my house and come back and press STOP. How can I do this w/o having a HUGEEEEE file size AND have audio-video SYNCHRONIZATION?
I'm not gonna upload the videos anywhere so the quality doesn't need to be superb.
Would you happen to know if Ovation will work with Cam Studio? It'll be hard enough for me to spend $100 on Ovation, but I can't justify spending $300 on Camtasia - especially when Cam Studio is free open source.
I also think programmers should be paid. I just wish I was in a position to pay for more of these expensive programs. Today's software tools are absolutely amazing!
You can try it with CamStudio! That's just the screen capture part. I'm not too familiar with it but I believe it might capture the preview window like Camtasia would.
I spoke to a tech support guy at Adobe and he walked me through how to make Ovation work in Vista. But now I can't upload my Ovation videos to You Tube. I keep getting a Failed: Invalid File Format message. I'm saving the video as a .wmv file. Any idea where I'm going wrong?
I played around with it and finally figured it out. I was NOT uploading the correct file.
Adobe had me make some adjustments to the colors in my config file for the Ovation program. I'd give you the blow by blow but I basically just did what I was told without paying attention. It took us about 10 minutes to get it straightened out. The guy was really sharp. I'll post my first video and you can see what I've done.
I bought the ovation software but it moves very slowly on my computer. I have a brand new HP laptop that runs Windows Vista on Comcast cable Internet. Any idea why the software is so slow for me?
Maybe...I know that everyone who tries to run Ovation on Vista has failed because Adobe (who bought Serious Magic) is NOT supporting it! So, for everyone out there...this trick will not work on Vista or PowerPoint 2007...bummer!!
What resolution are you recording your Camtasia presentations in? 1024X768? and what resolution do you produce your videos in for Youtbe? I recorded a sample one at 1024X768 and Youtube recommends uploading at 320X240 but the resolution wasn't very good.
I never record at 1024x768 when I know that I'll be uploading to YouTube or any other video service. Stupid Camtasia Tricks are recorded as I've indicated in the tutorial. I usually go with 800x600 for other things and use Pan & Zoom to move to key focus areas with a 320x240 zoom...and then of course Produce As a 320x240 video for YouTube.

hett1618 4 years ago
Couple of things to check first:
1. Does it play OK locally on your computer?
2. Is it bigger than 100MB or longer than 10 minutes?
3. Are you SURE you're uploading the right file?
BTW, I'd LOVE to hear what Adobe told you! I think the problem is more with PowerPoint 2007 than with Vista...
