A core theme in Utena (series, movie, extras...pick any one) is the staircase theme where Utena goes up the stairs to duel and Anthy uses the lift. CLAMP made a parody making massive fun of a number of things, not least the architectural and figurative elephants in the room. If you scar your mind with the carwash from hell, you may as well go for puns worth the investment.
