Meikyo Nidan was introduced by Asai Sensei. Kato Sensei is teaching Meikyo Sandan also, but it's IJKA kata. Other Shotokan organizations doesn't teach this.
Sensei kato is a legend he used to train and grade us about 10/11 years ago with me my two bro and ma dad till you one when i went for my 1st dan he bloody nearly killed but i enjoyed it his the man. He can drink and dif' can defend himself..
For me Kato Sensei is the best teacher. He allways have genius ideas like this how to use both hands in the basic techniques and for example to aply gedan barai againts any technique at any level to defend himself and at the same time to hit you. How to use your kamae. He is the best in Kata Bunkai (aplications).Every seminar he surprise us with something unusual. His Karate is unprеdictable. Something different than the standard Shotokan.

I think soon will be on youtube, but you can't learn Kato Sensei's specific technology for bunkai from video.

started training in shotokan in 1964.. trained with many japanese sensei but this sensei is the best..
