Colonel Parker had the power to stop CBS from airing this in October, 1977. He didn't and should've had his ass kicked. I'm as big an Elvis fan as anyone...but this is sad to watch. He was OBVIOUSLY ill. Compare the songs here to the renditions from '69 thru '73 (just the later years to compare apples to apples) and it just becomes painful.
My eyes look like that at the moment, i have a gum boil/abscess infection (which is thankfully getting better). Seriously though enuff of my dental ailments, WHAT A MAN (a trouper to the end).
Elvis, you are truly a gift from God. A faultering human being like all of us, and yet you always thought of others and gave of yourself, so much so, that your life gave out. Wish that you were here to give us more of your generous, beautiful, soulfull self. Love you always Elvis. Thanks for your legacy to everyone!

Some comments say he was past his prime but could still sing great, that's not true, he would have been in his prime had he not been robbed of it by prescrip. pills.
Just look into his eyes. All life has gone. It is obvious he is very ill. He knew it too and was very worried about it too. Just read about it in the book "If I can dream" by Larry Geller who died today of an heart attack. RIP to both good men.
4:22 a moment of clarity. Looking back at a laughing audience. Poor bastard. They wouldnt let him stop. He was trying to grow, even reaching for God. But this sick world WOULD NOT LET HIM.
Thanks for having all of this on your YouTube channel. I had this entire concert, as well as the entire Aloha from Hawaii concert on dvd. I actually downloaded it off of the internet a few years ago. Somehow I have lost both of them. These two are my favorite concerts of his. I never did get to see Elvis "live" but I always wanted to. I was 11 yrs old when he died. Thankfully I live close enough to Memphis & I'm able to visit Graceland anytime I want.
I wish he'd wanted to Rock more too.He had so many fans in the rock world who would have loved to either worked with him or written a song for him, such as John Lennon,Robert Plant,Rod Stewart,Elton John,Ian Gillan,Meat Loaf to name but a few.Iove Dio's voice(check out Holy Diver) and Elvis would have loved it too.
I doubt, you have excusive footage of any final recording to Elvis' departure, 8,12,14,000 people say the same, and all concerts from 75-77' have been sold, so show 1 clip from your so called 77' film that we have not seen...!?
@myfriendangel1 - 42 back then was more like 60 nowadays. And, he was also on drugs so there wouldn't be much "rocking out" anyway. This footage was only a few months before he died so the fact that he gives such a beautiful performance is enough of a gift.
@FredericaBimble what i ment was i know he was very ill and depressed i understand that its just a wish of mind that he could have gotten his life in order and into shape again .i believe he was still able to rock .and he would have blown the doors off all that hippie aand disco music at the time . but depression and being hurt and ill just takes a toll on a person but this man had a unblieveable talent that never left him and the fact he gives it his all here is just great
@myfriendangel1 but to watch him like this, is just so very sad, even though he gave his all and still was in great voice, how could they just all watch him die and not offer help when there was still time. it was such a waist for this unbelievable human being to have left this earth so untimeliy, never knowing how much the whole world was admiring and loving him for his unbelievable talent and generosity to friends, family and strangers
@charlotte946 i agree my dear lady . i totally agree with you . i believe in looking back his friends and loved ones relized they failed him at the time and yes even us fans too may have failed him a little because we just couldnt ever imagine the world without him .but to me and i will say and defend this to my time to go elvis presley was a gift to the world. his humor ,kindness , his god given talent will never be matched .he was a person with faults like we all do but he will always be king
@myfriendangel1 "Rock like he did in 56?" Look at him for God sake, common sense could tell you Elvis wasn't up to much rocking. Yes forty two isn't old but Elvis was addicted to prescription drugs, he was (lets face it) fat, he was tired and hell was he sick. Just appreciate "You Gave Me A Mountain" and "How Great Thou Art" for what they are, his voice was deeper and richer than ever before. I'm glad he didn't do too much rocking, I'd rather hear Elvis belt out those amazing songs.
@MrElvis96 miss understood me i ment i wish he hadnt become so ill so he could have done the great songs you mentioned plus able to rock i have been a elvis fan since 76 so i understand ur point but try to understand mine wouldn't have been great if he could have done shows where he could have done the 70's style and then changed to the 50's style a little bit .if he could have been healthy .i believe these would have been great shows.plus but no matter what he was awesome
@myfriendangel1 They certainly would have been great and I see your point but I like to take Elvis as he comes, a 50's rocker or a 70's ballad belter. But as you say, no matter what, he was awesome. By the way, did you attend any of his concerts?
@MrElvis96 no .my parents were going to go to his show in cincinnatii in 76 and i was going to go with them but they were unable to attend because of family matters . so like every one else i will just enjoy elvis from cd,dvd, and memories of his family and friends and here on youtube have a wonderful evening
I`m looking forward to his grandson singing it would be nice if he did a tour one off tour wearing the jump suits sing some of his grandads songs now that would be great!! that would give me the the chance like so many others to experience the greatest show on earth!!
I'm just so terribly sorry that he was surrounded by such greedy parasites. The parasites and Elvis' inability to deny the fans their shows is what lead to his death in my opinion.Even though he was near death, however, and his body was broken down he did a good concert
@JakeMabe1 You are absolutely correct but he was loved by the world. Go anywhere on this planet and people know Elvis. It was just a shame that most people who cannot afford to travel missed seeing how great he was live in concert
@serpico56 You're also absolutely correct. And you can thank the Colonel for the fact Elvis didn't play overseas. The phony was afraid of being found out for who he actually was so he never left the States and wouldn't let Elvis go, either. It's sad.
this man was the best and a gift from god .but he was so ill here but the man just gave it his all to the end and thats why he will always be the king.
