Bigger more powerful engines allow you to cruise and tour at a lower RPM due to more torque while still giving top speed with high horsepower. Sitting at 6K instead of 8K keeps everything lasting a bit longer. They just hype power numbers cuz that's why most people buy them. More power also allows you instant acceleration if the situation calls for it.

Im´ not a bike man - thou some bikes i find really beautifull and great. I am thou wondering if 1400 ccm really is needed nowadays even for a hyperbike ? - seems like almost all automakers are downsizing and getting higher output both in bhp and torque. (Well ok Lambo just built a new 12 cyl enginge, so not all). Is turbo really a no go for bikes ?. I recall vid some years ago with a stripped down green turbo busa claiming 498 bhp, going on the backwheel at 300 km/t.

So mediocre, hyper-sport bikes are really becoming a damp squib today.

10 years ago the Busa was leaps and bounds faster than a comparable litre bike; today it's the other way round.

Suzuki better put the "hyper" back into hyper-sport with the next gen Busa.

This ZZR-1400 is still slower than a bone-stock S1000RR that has been lowered. (look on youtube)

i don't get the market for these bikes... 1) once you get past 1000c the bikes generally get too big/too long and look ugly. 2)If you wanted a cruiser, you buy a cruiser, not this.. 3) these bikes are impractical, they only come into their own on a big straight line or race circuit. Try stopping and starting regularly with this in town, every time you stop it would be like trying to balance a baby rhino. @magnapillow Yeah, but the biggest Unique Selling Point to these big engined, over powered beasts is that for 10-15 grand, they can knock the shit out of just about any car in a straight acceleration battle, plus people buy them because of the knowledge that they can outrun fireblades and have about 25% throttle to spare
