@jamesroot9777 It depends on what you wanna learn. Obviously, the grooves on this video are what make bass really different from guitar. You've gotta learn to tie in with the drummer or whatever else you've got goin' in the rhythm section, that can be difficult for new players. Tons of unique techniques too if you're interested in playing slap. But, as long as you're motivated, then I'm sure it shouldn't be too hard for you to start kickin' out the jams xD

I love Fieldy for one reason. Besides the fact that he has a really good technique and ability, he gives Korn it's distinctive style. You can recognize it's a Korn song just by listening the bass. And you can hear clear and loud every single note he plays. Not too many bands have that atribute.

Just mess around until you're in the ball park.. He has alot of fretbuzz as well so that would probably help achieve that sound as well..

I really don't think this guys knows how to play. Just beats A and B flats. Lucky for him all Korn's music is in the key of "A". Horrible tone as well....it's all 100% bass and 100% treble, no mids to even it out.

@bassdominos Sorry mate but if you think that fieldy in better that flea, you're clearly an idiot. Fieldy doesn't play the same style as flea but still, musically Flea is streaks ahead. Do you even play the bass, I do and I know that Red Hot Chilli Peppers is some of the fastest and intense music you can play. Songs like "Get up and Jump" or "C'mon Girl" have very difficult bass lines that few people can play as well as Flea. Fieldy is a great bassist but just not in the same league as Flea.

I think he's ok, but not great. anyway- slap bass is an art. it's just not a matter of pounding on the strings. there has to be some structure and rhythm to it. flea knows how to incorporate slap into the RHCP songs. there is a feel to his playing. fieldy just makes a lot of noise.

I didn't say he was a bad bass player because he's not using picks...I just said "where are the notes?" and if YOU were a real musician bass player and/or guitar player as I am...you 'll be able to admite music is not only rythm slapped on a drum kick...unfortunatly I haven't ever seen him playing some hard sweeping notes or something else

To play like him cut your bass tone on your bass put the trble on max also on your bass....than do quiete the same on your amp with a little bit more bass on it and small fuzz...about playing slap the first string quickly with some palm mute on it...some times^^

Sure, he's good at what he does which is slap a few strings with his big fat hands. He's a stinky fucking drunk mexican and Korn is a fucking washout band after Follow The Leader. @bassdominos Sorry mate but if you think that fieldy in better that flea, you're clearly an idiot. Fieldy doesn't play the same style as flea but still, musically Flea is streaks ahead. Do you even play the bass, I do and I know that Red Hot Chilli Peppers is some of the fastest and intense music you can play. Songs like "Get up and Jump" or "C'mon Girl" have very difficult bass lines that few people can play as well as Flea. Fieldy is a great bassist but just not in the same league as Flea.

@russandh well, I agree with you in everything except where you say "fieldy is a great bassist." I think he's ok, but not great. anyway- slap bass is an art. it's just not a matter of pounding on the strings. there has to be some structure and rhythm to it. flea knows how to incorporate slap into the RHCP songs. there is a feel to his playing. fieldy just makes a lot of noise.

Here is the deal, if you like Korn and Fieldy thats all well and good , thats your opinion, but when people say Fieldy is the best bass player around, thats when my blood boils. There are so many bassists in the heavy metal genre that wipe the floor with this guy in terms of technique and creativity so please stop the insanity and come to terms that Fieldy is NOT the best bass player around.
